No health insurance = no serology, what the hell do I do

Recommended Posts

I've decided that I probably have molluscum, because this bump thing has been here for 6+ months, but I still want to get tested. Of course, I don't have health insurance cause I'm just now striking out on my own. So I called my local clinic for the pricing on a HSV-2 Serology or whatever, and guess what, it's 115 freakin dollars! That is more than an entire paycheck for me! I've never had an open sore, so I can't just go get a swab. What the hell am I supposed to do, live in fear that I might have herpes my whole life or just get my molluscum removed and go back to normal?

Does ANYONE know of anywhere within 100 miles of Portland, OR that can give me a serology for cheaper? I mean I know I dont have insurance, but GOD DAMN!

Call Planned Parenthood in Portland. Explain your situation, and ask them if they can help. See if they'll test you or refer you. Since they work on a reduced scale (according to income and ability to pay), this is where you start. Just get started. And, keep the profanity to a low roar on the boards so that everybody wants to help and isn't ticked off at the "attitude". We all know what it feels like, because we've all been there.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
