My husband went to the doctor as he had a few bumps on his penis. The doctor took a look and just said to us that he had herpes. No blood test. no swabs.. Just told him to take Valtrex. He never had any blisters, we've been married for 2 years and we have a baby. Could he gotten from me? During my pregnancy I was never told I had herpes.

Well he could of had it from before or you could.I am in the same boat except it was me who had a outbreak after 15 years of marriage and husband swears he hasnt cheated and he hasnt shown any signs of herpes. As far as not being told you have herpes during your pregnancy well from what I understand herpes is not tested for during the typical STD blood testing for pregnant women so chances are unless you asked to be tested for herpes they didnt test for herpes.I am going to find out if they did test me during my last pregnancy to be sure but they probably didnt.I have been told by my doctor people can have herpes for yearsssss and never know it because they never have an outbreak or the outbreaks arent typical..(sores).If I was your husband ,eventhough the doctor probably knows what hes looking at,id still tell the doctor I wanna get a blood test to confirm.Hopefully the doctor is wrong.I have read that a high number of people with the herpes virus are asymptomatic meaning no symptoms. So you should get tested as well....good luck

Tritesta,

Both you and your hubby should get a blood test for herpes antibodies. If either one of you has antibodies to herpes then you can be sure that you've been exposed at some time in your lives. A positive blood test means that you have herpes...even if you have never had any physical signs of an outbreak. Now please be careful with how you go about this.

First, let's just assume that your husband's rash is a primary episode or outbreak of genital herpes. This being the case, he should not be tested for at least 12 to 16 weeks from the onset of his "bumps". The reason for this is because it takes around 3 months for the herpes antibodies to build up to a level high enough in the system to be detected by a blood test.

Second, not all herpes blood tests are created equal. The absolute gold standard for herpes testing is the Western Blot for herpes.Or you can get an IgG test such as HerpeSelect Test using immunoblot kit. Both tests are 100% accurate and can distinguish between Herpes type 1 (which is usually associated with oral lesions) and Herpes type 2 (which is usually seen in the genital area) Results come back in 1-2 weeks, but actually it's closer to one week. They are expensive, so save your pennies  I would ask to be tested for both types because either type can infect the genital area, and each type will behave differently in that area. Make sure you are NOT tested with the IgM method. IgM tests are not specific and results are unreliable.

Triesta,

One more point I should've made above and is very important. If your husband tests positive for herpes and you test negative, please don't jump to conclusions about him being unfaithful. Herpes virus can lay dormant in the body for years before something triggers it to erupt. I hope to hear back from you...hoping for good news.

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.
