I suspected something was wrong with me 2 days after having unprotected sex with someone I recently started to date. Eventhough all the STD results came back as being negative, I know that I will be diagnosed very soon (when the cultures come back) with herpes as I have multiple painful sores, have trouble walking and I am also feverish at times....in a nutshell - All the symptoms you can possibly experience, I have.

I, oddly enough feel no resentment towards him as he showed no signs of it..... I do however have this overwhelming guilt because based on the research that I have done, it is quite possible that I might have had the virus for years and it just simply decided to migrate to my nerve endings at that specific time. In addition to that, I have had another sexual encounter with protection 2 weeks prior to.......Maybe he will soon have his first outbreak because of my carelessness.

Please help!

Hi!

Hi! I'm Sarah. I jsut got done responding to another woman in your situation! Don't fret! Please don't! I been there. I was diagnosed over a year and a half ago! Don't feel guilty about it and don't stress. Stress alone can cause a severe outbreak! I'd know! I know all the symptoms toooooo well! My first was my worse EVER! And you're right, you can have the disease for years and never know! Hell you can go your whole life without an outbreak! Scary thought actually. But, don't be depressed or worried or guilty or stressed over it. That's the WORSE thing you can do. Just sit and talk to him about it. Explain it all and make sure you BOTH read the facts on it. Not everyone is aware of herpes. Hell my fiancee that I met over a year ago didn't even know what herpes was when I told him. So I showed him pictures and sent him information on it. He understands and is still here. He made it LESS stressful and shameful for me at the fact he stayed. He could have left the day I told him which was way before we got intimate. But he's here and understands it all now. It was NOT your carelessness either. It's ignorance of the disease itself. People do not want to know about it. But, when you become a victim of it, the people closest to you such as a boyfriend or friend, you want them to UNDERSTAND it like you do so they don't think ill of you or treat you different. If they choose to not understand that's on them. NOT YOU. It was not carelessness or anything fo that nature. If he does have an outbreak. Can't place the blame anywhere. It's TRULY hard to detect how you got it! Or who you got it from! So keep your chin up! Smile...it looks good on ya! ;-)

Please refer to my remedies topic on the 'talk about it!' topics! If valtrex isn't enough try the remedies I found to be useful!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
