Is there a possiblity?

I've just been diagnosed with genital herpes type2 - had a big outbreak last week and I am at the tail end of it. My question is: Is it possible that I might have mistaken mild outbreaks for ingrown hair in my groin and then experience a big painful outbreak? I am asking bc I have had this major ingrown hair (I thought) since November and it comes and goes away. Even went to the doctor 2-3 times and told me to put this creme on to make it go away. The cortisone creme did help but it kept on coming back around my menstrual cycle. It was a nuance and at time sensitive at the touch but it was nothing like this time around. Is it possible to have small almost unoticable outbreaks and then a huge one?

And another YES. In fact, a true primary outbreak of herpes is more likely to manifest with quite severe and systemic illness. Meaning high fever, muscle aches. urinary problems, lots of discharge. It is very possible that you have had lots of outbreaks in the past, especially if they seemed to come and go at a specific time in your monthly cycle. Take heart that just because you have now had a more overt outbreak does not mean that the virus will be getting worse. Herpes, luckily, usually fizzles out over time.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
