Westover Heights At Home Testing

Hello,

I too am interested in doing the Westover Heights at home swabbing. Did you end up doing it? I'm really curious to know how it worked out for you. How much did it cost? Was it easy to do?

Thanks!

hey there yes i contacted them. it was last year sometime though so i can't remember all the pricing. They won't mail you anything until you schedule a phone appt with one of their nurses ..terry warren or the other nurse there in the clinic. That phone appointment is charged by the minute. But She was very real in terms of answering my questions. They charge per week for the swabs. The confusing part for me at first was that...it is PER VIAL not per swab. A vial holds about 7 swabs..so a weeks worth basically. (which have to be overnighted back to the clinic once completed)Therefore...it won't tell you which DAY you had a positive sample...only that at the end of that WEEK of swabs...you had a positive detection. I wanted to try it to just get an estimate on if/when/how much undetectable shedding was occurring. However it was advised that it is much more valuable to use this info to see if your regimen/meds/treatment is working in terms of reducing shedding. hope that helps some.

This is amazing info, thanks for giving it to me. I have had no sores genitally, just intermittent itching and dull pain, and no doctor I have been to has been wiling to do the swabs with me. I need to know for peace of mind and so I can inform future partners. I've already scheduled an appointment with one of the nurses there (Terri Warren is out of town unfortunately) but I'm excited to speak with her about this and have a bit of knowledge ahead of time.

You don't know how much it means to me that you replied to this thread. You replied so quickly even though the last post was 7 months ago! It often feels like I am searching endlessly with no answers, and this has helped me out greatly. I think you make an excellent point in using this information in the future. Depending on the results of a few weeks, I plan to start treatment to diminish the shedding and this would be extremely helpful to see if it's actually working.

I'm really excited that this opportunity is out there!

Hey there sure. glad I could give the info. I think my first phone appt ended up being like $150. and I THINK the swabs were like $150 but don't quote me on that. Yes once she explained to me that that was the best reason to use it ..it made sense. I am very hopeful to try that if ANY of the actual planned vaccines come to market because in my case it would be difficult to tell if something is working any other way. Good luck.

Ok. That's true. I would def. use protection but i was just thinking I should say something. I haven't made an decisions yet so nothing has happened. And also thanks for your response.

Im thinking alot of one night stands are usually ppl you dont know. So i assume alot of ppl take the risk and have protected sex or even unprotected sex knowing they will never see thst person ever again. Especially if the transmission rate is low while using protection

I mean by that same logic anybody would be crazy to have sex with us ever  lol ppl we end up in relationships with are at risk the most aren't they? Since that would mean regular sex...  I'm asking to see if anybody has ACTUALLY disclosed to a one night stand because I've read on other sites that ppl have done it but most are blogs like the one here https://www.emilydepasse.com/eldsoul/2018/3/25/ask-emily-dating-with-herpes where basically the writer is responding to a question vs me actually having the ability to talk to the person who actually has the experience

http://www.eligiblemagazine.com/2013/03/14/lube-up-with-coconut-oil/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10813049 https://www.drgonzalezmd.com/avoid-secondary-herpes-infections-with-coconut-oil/   Coconut Oil has been shown to contain alot of antiviral properties. Herpes simply cannot survive in it, however I'm curious at how effective it is at preventing herpes transmission during sex, and if it'd make you near invincible. Herpes during sex is transmitted through skin to skin friction which coconut oil significant reduces.  Also if the virus were to leave the carrier's body it would get caught up in the layer of oil and killed. But how fast? Also, The lube drys out as you rub against each other, so you'd have to keep re-applying every so often.   Depending on the intensity of the sex, the coconut oil will get thoroughly rubbed into the persons skin layers, which'd mean the virus undoubtedly be on the persons skin and flesh. But, Theoretically, The virus should be dead/inactive due to being surrounded by the anti viral coconut oil, so it wouldn't even be able to crawl into their body to infect.   We need to get a bunch of lab mice or monkey, Infect 2 with herpes (Control and Test groups) , cover the test group in coconut oil, and let them have sex. If the test group shows less herpes transmission rates than that means that Coconut oil decreases STD TRANSMISSION!   Why hasn't this been done yet? Even if it didn't reduce transmission by 100%, 50% would lower std rates significantly.
