This is my first reply/post or anything. I was just diagnosed on Wednesday and struggling through my first ob as well. It sucks. I also have sores from front to back. Cornstarch really worked to dry the area & actually made it somewhat possible to pee without screaming bloody murder! I am planning to try hydrogen peroxide tonight on the sores and will let you know how that goes. A blow dryer set on cool works great for drying the area as well. I assume you are female so wear pantyliners and change them constantly. I've read ointments are so good as they keep the area moist and then scabs can't form. I'm certainly not an expert but i've been reading up on this like a madwoman! Good luck!

my comment above was supposed to say that ointments are NOT good because they don't allow the area to dry. That's just what I've read...kind of made sense to me.

peeing-

also it gets better to pee----- i was afraid to drink anything for days but try sitting in a bath w. warm/hot water. but sit kinda like u were streching, it dilutes the acid in the urine so it doesnt burn as much.

tried peroxide last night. don't know if it helped. tingled a lot kind of burned too. Repeated the procedure this morning. keeping the area real dry. I figure it's not like i can actually go out or anything so I might as well attack this thing as hard as it is attacking me. this may sound a little to personal but we are girls so hear it goes...i can pee with less pain if i sit on toilet, hunched over & use my hands to hold my labia away from my urethra(sp?). it's so much trouble to get into the shower everytime i need to pee. why did the fan hurt you? i seem to get a little relief from the blow dryer. don't forget to try the cornstarch idea. it helps me sleep at night.

not sure why

it hurt... but never gonna do that again.

my o.b is pretty much over just healing the rest of it,(no more open sores) i can walk, and pee normally in the toilet again, and i can finally close my legs (woo!)

when i first had this ob, thats how i was peeing but my sores were ALL OVER my kitty, and spread to the back, so nothing helped.

are u taking any meds? the valtrex is my life saver right now.

next time i get one ill rem that corn starch idea. also- alot of people have said they use something called Choraphor - but thats supposed to be painfull.

I have used choraphor and it does sting, but no worse than hydrogen peroxide (I will use that too to help dry and heal and clean sores.)

I will be honest, a few days ago I started to get yet ANOTHER outbreak, not a bad one, but an OB nonetheless....after I took a shower, and I was fairly certain the sore was "open" I applied the Choraphor.....next day, the freakin' sore was gone!!!

I can't really take meds, so this is a nice alternative for me. It is expensive, but after seeing what folks are paying for that damn Valtrex, I don't know which is worse. So...I say, if you get some extra cash, give it a try. It will sting a bit , then ....nothing. hopefully you will have some good luck with it too.

I will keep all posted about my self-guinea-pig testing with Choraphor.

waxed wrong...you and i seem to be at the same point in our outbreak! I healing up too. A little discharge still from inside but it's manageable. I too can finally walk, sit and pee fairly comfortably. I've noticed I'm kind of itchy but it's the kind of itch you get when a cut heals so it feels good. The peroxide really helps. I know it hurts like a b$#ch but it helps. If you apply it and then use the blow dyer it stops hurting faster. It was suggested to soak in epsom salt so I did that today too. Felt good! I bought a little travel size spray bottle & filled it with peroxide to spray on myself in the shower and to take to work with me to clean myself after i go to them bathroom. The Choraphor thing looks real promising & i think i would order it but i'm allergic to sulfa products and it contains sulfa...sucks for me. i'd try it if i could. Congrats on recovery and i hope our posts help people. i wish i could have read stuff like this when it first happened to me. i was just freaking out and suffering. i too broke out from front to back and everywhere in between. talked to someone last night on an h site that she was like that for her first break and then after that she only had what amounted to a cold sore! (fingers are crossed, girl!) Another woman said that when she feels on coming on, she cleans the heck out of herself with alcohol(now that would hurt). These sites are pretty helpful...some are full of guys that wanna hit on you...during an outbreak that thought is DISGUSTING but many have people that offer advice and help if you ask! Keep you all posted on outbreak #2 when it comes...hopefully that means I never be here again!

I think it is funny when people try to hit on one another on these sites....I can see if it were a dating site, or there is a section on this board that talks about dating sites, so maybe if folks are "hooking up there" but to me, this site is for support, and info and helping each other out!!! Am I right?!?! So that is crazy if someone is trying to "holla at ya" here. ugh.

yeah, the choraphor worked well, for me, but I also use hydrogen peroxide to clean things up and it will dry out the sore and heal it too.

About the peeing...another thing you can do is get one of them little bottles they give women in the hospital after she has a baby....just a little water bottle thing, but you put warm water in it, then while you pee, you spray the water down there to help alleve the pain. (the stitches and what not can hurt/sting when you pee, so, this helps ALOT!)

Maybe try that during an outbreaks, then gently pat dry with toilet paper...OR the hairdryer works great!

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.

May 13 ( day I will never forget).. a guy I was dating and I drank way to much and decided to have anal sex. We did use protection however, not enough lube, wasn’t done correctly and it was painful. So bad that I yelled out and fell off the bed. Anyway, oral was also performed on me anal and vaginal. Flash forward to 3-4 days after that. I was in the most intense pain I had ever felt. I went to a gyn she tool one look and said it looks like herpes. She swabbed me . 2 days after that, yes it’s HSV1 . I was still in pain, irritated anal area and vaginal area and It was unbearable.  today, I still have irritation and itchy and when I pass a bowel i’m in pain and the itch is crazy.     When I first was diagnoses the gyn gave me valtrex which I did not take bc I was in so much pain I could not move for 2 days.  Groin lymphs were swollen I had fever , tired etc.  I am wondering if I had taken the valtrex would it have kinda liked stopped the virus in it’s tracks enough to reproduce? Do people see a correlation between no more outbreaks and immediate initial valtrex  use ? I am 43, I never thought this wound happen as I am not a promiscuous person, I hardly date and I always use protection when I do have intercouse , have yearly std tests. I’m just so sad that i’m at this point right now . I’m trying not to get depressed but this is making my body feel miserable. I’m an avid runner and biker and mom of two teens. I feel like my life as I knew is over. I want to feel better already.
