Is it herpes?

I have gone for blood tests and a culture for herpes and it has been negative.

When this first began I was taking antibiotics for a sinus infection and I broke out in a mass of blisters between my buttock and near my anus. I did not know what to think. I still am not feeling well and then I found out from another dr that I might indeed have herpes even though the tests were negative. she is making me take valtrex for 5 days and if I begin feeling better she says I have herpes.....

Can anyone help me?

the blood test that you took, was it for Herpes or just for HIV?

I took a STD test, it included bloodwork for HIV, and included a swab down my urethra, GOSH THAT HURT. All came back negative, but I didnt get a test for herpes.

Bottom line, where can I go and get a test for Herpes. just a blood test, so that I know that I can be sure that I have 0 STDs.

THanks

Tom

From everything I have been reading, the blood test is a good test if doner 12 to 16 weeks after exposure. I have had 2 neg test myself and I am waiting on 12 weeks. I have 2 Docs that say they do not think it is Herpes but I still feel like I have sypmtoms.

A word on testing. My Doc did and IgG (tells if you have HVS and if it is type 1 or type two.) He also did an IgM. (tells if there is an active virus but will not identify it.) Both of mine were Neg.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
