Cold Sore Duration

earnest

Recommended Posts

I have had what appears to be a small outbreak (my first) over but ajoining my upper lip. It is been red and I think there may have been small blisters but they are so small it is hard to tell. My concern is that this area has been active for the past couple of months. There is the usual tingling and numbness that comes and goes and sometimes it appears almost healed only to get red and a bit swollen again. I have a couple other spots along my upper lip that are also tingly but haven't done much more that. Is this duration normal for a first outbreak? I am just concerned that it might be something more serious, like some some type of infection or even oral cancer. I have done lots of research but have not found much information on the duration of the first outbreak. Is it possible for this to go on for so long?

Everyone is different sweetie there is no normal outbreak a typical cold sore is a a burning itchy feeling that is later followed by a red bump that then turns into either a couple of blisters that merge into one big one or just one big blister that then pops and ulcerates. so then it turns into an open wet sore and then it dries out and goes away after it scabs over . personally for me when I had my first cold sore I hadn't even been tested yet but I knew this was no canker. this was no pimple or irritation .there was no doubt in my mind that it was herpes. So to a degree when they really say if you have herpes you know it ,in my case that was the case .what hit me so hard was after I Already knew I had it I wasn't upset about it until I got an STD test and the doctor told me I had been exposed to HSV-1 . that's when it hit me because society labels it as a cold sore .were not programmed to think it's herpes .so when they called me and gave me the results and used its proper term I thought I was about to just fall over and die. Anyhow sorry to get off topic here but what you have sounds like it might be an outbreak just be cautious try out a couple of things to see what makes you comfortable I find that herpecin L and ice works the best for me and for the future I would ask your primary to prescribe you some valtrex. That way you always have it on hand and when you have future outbreaks at the first tingle that you feel you run to the pharmacy fill your script and pop that shit so it prevents the outbreak from even happening. Or at least if you catch it soon enough you can really reduce the pain and duration that comes along with it if you don't catch it in time. Xo

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.
