Optimism seems an unintelligible concept at the moment

So. 6 months ago I was diagnosed with genital herpes and genital warts, caused by the HPV virus. I have no idea who gave this to me, and I know finding out will not change the situation. I have been to my doctor multiple times, only to try different medications that have yet to display positive results. In the past 6 months, my outbreaks have not cleared up one single time, not even for a day. I am beginning to feel disheartened...as if this will never heal even for a short period of time. It would be nice to not be reminded that I have this virus every time I come in contact with my genitals. Has anyone else ever had perpetual outbreaks lasting this long? I am so worried right now, almost on the verge of an emotional breakdown. Thanks for reading.

I found out in May that I have genital herpes so I am with you on the emotional breakdowns. I too have severe, frequent outbreaks. I have been on daily Valtrex therapy 1000 mg a day and 2000 mg for a week during my breakouts. I use the zovirax cream and that REALLY helps. I have also had my doctor try me on seasonique birth control because i have noticed my OBs come when I have my menstrual cycle. I have also began to exercise every day and made dietary changes as well. I have increased my Vitamin C intake as well as fish oil and more veggies and fruits, less caffeine, and alcohol. Stress, sun exposure and dental problems can cause OBs also. I am lucky because I am a RN and I have a great doctor.Good luck!

I was just prescribed the Zovirax, and it does not seem to be doing any good. I have also been taking Valtrex for two months, and I just had another outbreak (adding to the three that still have not gone away) about a week ago. I just do not know what to do. I am going to start taking Vitamin B, and I will definitely have to quit smoking (I am embarking on that lovely mission tomorrow). It is just so hard to function when I cannot even have two days without an outbreak. Thank you so much for commenting. It is nice to finally talk to someone else who has it. I've been suffering so much, trying to remind myself that this is not the end of the world, but I just want it to go away for a bit. I just want it to be a normal case that clears up in 4 weeks and comes back later. My doctor drew a picture of my outbreaks because they were so "abnormal". Very comforting.

The Boss

hi, i got GH and had first OB around 1st week sept. I took Virest (Zovirax equivalent, Egypt made) 400mgx8 daily for 14 days. Within first few days the blister subsided. By end of the course it was completely gone. I started regular 1 HR exercise, increased intake of raw carrot, cucumber and fruits, black tea w/o sugar - 3 cups (I take 2-3 more cups with sugar and milk). I almost forgot about it. During 3 weeks vacation I misssed my diet and exercise. I again saw symptoms in mid Nov, took 7 days Virest course (as above) , now symptoms are gone. I adivse you to follow disciplined exercise and diet routine and try not to pay much attention to GH. I believe in my prayers too, if you do, say your prayers regularly, just like exercise.
