PLEASE CLARIFY:Can the second, third, etc. outbreaks give you the worse symptoms?

I have heard that the first ob gives you the worse symptoms. I want to know can the second or third, etc. ob give you the worse symptoms? When I think back, it seems as if I could have had an ob before this one. However, my symptoms were pretty bad this time. The doctor said because of my symptoms, it was a recent exposure, and if that is true then does that mean my b/f was unfaithful to me? I know people say that it does not mean that your partner was unfaithful, but when you think about it, that information does not make since to me. I wish that someone could clarify this for me because I am still confused about the initial ob and the non-initial ob.

I had a really bad ob two months ago, and that was when i was first diagnosed, and have had two really bad ones sinces, but if i look back i think its possible that i have been having mild obs for years but never anything as severe as the one a few months ago. So for me i don't think the first was the worst, because none of the other ones were even bad enough for me to go to a dr. Have you got 1 or 2? if its 1 he might not have been unfaithful he may just get coldsores!

  • 2 weeks later...

My first OB was NOTHING compared to the ones I've had since. The blister opened one day and was closed the next.

Since then, every blister opening I've had since then has been painful, bleeding and taken at least a week to heal.

Oddly enough, and I guess I need some clarification on this, I started to use Hydrogen Peroxide to treat the opened blister, and then cover it with Neosporin. When I've done this, it heals up and goes away within 24-48 hours.

Maybe I was a bit confused, but I thought I was told on here not to use Neosporin and let the blister dry up, crack open, and close on its own. In the meantime, with the use of Neosporin, I've kept the blister from even getting to the cracking stage.

Any thoughts here?

But to answer your question, count me as someone who has had worse OB's since my first.

Everyone is right when they say that this virus affects everyone differently. However i believe that when the first outbreak is accompanied by flu like symptoms, swollen lymphs, leg pains, etc you can pretty much know that this was your first primary outbreak.

The reason for this is that when SOME people are first exposed to the virus there bodies are not prepared to handle it and reacts with symptoms of flu, swollen lymphs, etc.

I had all these symptoms including meningitis after having protected sex so i am confident that this was when i was FIRST exposed.

Think about it, if i had this way before my body would have been prepared (antibodies) to defend itself and not have been so vulnerable causing such severe symptoms.

Support1, did you have any flu like symptoms, leg pain, swollen lymphs, etc at any point in time?

(not everyone will get these but i guess it does help in knowing when the true primary outbreak occured)

HAPPY NEW YEAR WHEN IT COMES EVERYONE AND REMEMBER LIFE GOES ON AND LIFE CAN BE GREAT IF WE MAKE THE BEST OF IT!!

love you guys!!

outbreaks, etc.

My first outbreak was one tiny sore. Since then it has gotten worse. My husband and I are practically celibate, and still both get outbreaks even when we do not have sex. I am going on year sixteen with this insidious virus. Now I usually get one big sore, it goes away, then I get another one and a third one. It takes more than two weeks to clear up. It is so depressing...

To Young One,

During my first outbreak, I had very bad leg, back, and hip pain. The pain moved up and down my back. I also had a very intense pressure feeling in my vagina/groin area. I wanted to also ask you are anyone on this forum if they experienced tingling in the arm and a burning sensation in the base of the head? I remember the doctor saying something about a tingling sensation, however, she really did not go into details and my mind was so blown away by the diagnosis until I forgot to ask that question. So, if anyone has experienced these symptomsor knows someone who has (tingling in the arm and burning sensation in the head), please let me know.

Thanks for your support and information. It has really been hard at times to deal with this virus, but I must say this forum is really a tremendous help.

To Support1:

I didnt have any tingling in my arm but as for a burning sensation in my head, it was more like i was being stabbed several times in my head for a week. I got meningitis with my first outbreak and the headaches were the most painful thing i have ever been through. I also had photosensitivity, terrible back aches, vomitting, etc.

My right leg was also numb for a while, in fact its still kinda numb right now come to think of it...i really dont know if this is normal.

I think the sensation in your head is normal because the virus settles in the spine which is connected to your brain therefore it is very possible for your back and head to be affected.

Thanks Young One. You just do not know how much it means to me that someone can understand what I am going through. It seems as if no one else understands or they look at you like you are the plague. I would have never thought that contracting this virus would have all of these different symptoms. Before contracting it, I thought this virus was mainly about sores on the mouth or sores on the genital area. However, after researching it, I have found out so many other things that I would have never known. I never thought that it would deal with so much pain in different body parts. Thanks for the information! :)

No, just because you have a recent exposure, does not mean your boyfriend cheated on you at all. It means that he has had this virus a while, didnt ever know it, and you just now contracted it from him. The same thing happened to me. My boyfriend and I were together for three years and never cheated on one another and he never had any symptoms and had no idea he had it. We had sex every day for 3 years without a condom and I never got it, never any symptoms....then last summer I got a horrible first outbreak and the ideas raced through our minds....he thought I must have given it to him but it turns out he gave it to me....my antibodies in my blood were new, indicating it was a new exposure....that i happened to contract it (due to invisible viral shedding that is occurring at different times when no symptoms are present) so there ya have it ..no cheating, virus lays dormant in bodies, viral shedding can occur and you happen to finally have sex at a time it was happening. no cheating....so dont blame your boyfriend because it is very likely that is not the case. you both need to support each other during these difficult times...

My outbreaks are worse now; my first one was pale in comparison....

Sigh, the more I read about herpes, the more I'm starting to realize how the classic clinical signs of it are worthless.

I definitely agree with you. My symptoms are nothing like what the information says about herpes. It is really frustrating becuase when you talk to doctors, they rely too much on what the book says in regard to symptoms. I had a doctor tell me that it was not herpes because what I described did not sound like herpes and if I had it, I would definitely know it. Well, it turned out that I did have herpes 2, so much for what the book says.

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.
