Does anyone experience this symptom during outbreaks?

I want to know does anyone experience tingling or numbness in their arm during an outbreak? I really cannot say that I experienced this until I found out that I have herpes. So, I think that it is directly related to herpes. I remember my doctor saying something about tingling in the arm, however, I did not get the chance to ask her anything else about because I was so distraught about hearing the news of my diagnosis.

Yes, I get that all the time. It's a spot about the size of a 50 cent piece that feels hyper sensitive and somewhat achey, but only on the surface of the skin. The area also is hyper sensitive to cold. If I touch it, my hand feels cold but not when I touch somewhere else. If it's on the back of my thigh, it's hard to sit on the toilet because it feels incredibly cold but just on that upper thigh area that is being affected.

I used to get them alot on my upper thigh right under my butt but now they occur more on my arms and strangely enough, I now have one on my inner thigh. Don't seem to remember ever getting one there before. So they move around the body and are usually typical but they can surprise you, too.

I call them hot spots. They feel sort of tingly and "electric". For me, they usually precede an outbreak, and are always on the same side of my body that the outbreak is going to affect on my privates. I always have an outbreak sore on the right or left side of my V. Just kind of a little odd fact.

Anyway, yeah, I get em, and all kinds of other stuff, too!

Yes, I get tingling, very sore and constant aches in both of my arms, almost as if I've been lifting heavy boxes for most of the day.... :( My upper thighs, hip area and butt are effected the same way. Even the palms of my hands sometimes tingle and I get a warm sensation almost like I've touched some hot. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that "H" would bring on so much pain and discomfort....it's horrible really. :( I would never wish this on anyone even my worst enemy.

Wow... I have been getting that tingly feeling too! I did not make the connection between this and herpes!!! I just thought there was something else wrong with me and I didn't know what it could be... but wow... Ok, now that makes sense.

To InShock,

Do you get it in your arm? Do you get it anywhere else in your body? I thought something else was wrong with me also. I did not notice this feeling until I was diagnosed with herpes. I am still going to get some other test done just to be sure, but I think it is related to herpes because it comes and goes and it comes with an ob. I would have never thought that herpes had so many symptoms and pain. Take care!

Oh, yeah, herpes gives us lots of strange and unusual surprises!

usually, if there is any achey or "nerve-type" pain in my body, I can be sure it's associated with herpes. The achey pain is usually on the surface of the skin (unless it's muscle aches due to general malaise....) and the deeper pain that you can't really pinpoint, feels like a nerve pain to me. And both have that tingly kind of "Electric" feeling.

I have discovered that alot of things are a result of herpes. Before, I didn't have a clue. I just thought I was coming down with something or it was something weird. But when I started keeping track of them, they always seem to precede or follow and OB. At least it's nice to know what's causing them.

Alot of times, before an OB, I will just feel under the weather and kind of air head-ish (for lack of a better term...) no symptoms that I can identify, just general fatigue and an "ill" type feeling with no identifiable symptoms such as a sore throat, headache, etc. I kept thinking I was coming down with something but then I wouldn't. My thinking was even a little slow or confused...kind of the air head feeling, but just slightly. After a while, I started noticing that every time I felt that way, I would have an OB a day or two after, then those symptoms would go away.

Same with the weird tingly spots on different parts of the body. they last for several days, though. Sometimes, there are shooting pains around or in them like little electric zaps. This is nerve pain, since herpes travels around the nerve paths.

Happy, happy, joy, joy.......GGRRrrrrr.......

  • 2 weeks later...

yea, i have an outbreak now, its been a while and I tried to forget how crappy it makes me feel. It hurts like HELL, hurts to pee, feels like a bladder/UTI infection, but I know its all related to the Herpes. I can barely sit down, had to come home from work and lay down. Have a nice raw lesion, its all killing me down there. I get 'nervy' feelings down my leg, i f**kin' hate this. GOD It hurts. I take the valtrex which i think cuts down on the outbreak.

Thanks for having a place to VENT, its nice to be with people that understand.

In the early days used to get that feeling down my thighs liked I'd started distance running training a couple of days before. Actually it was quite a nice feeling in a very weird way, cuz that feeling normally comes from exercise that you know is doing you good.

Don't get that these days. Just the urinary infection feeling, smelly pee etc. followed by rash outbreak on the right of scrotum. Body seems to have got better at dealing with herpes.

https://imgur.com/a/cVi8yJY 2 weeks ago I had unprotected oral sex. Few days later I wake up with a stinging sensation in my urethra. I don't have any blisters, lesions or redness, my penis looks completely normal from the outside, but the stinging in my urethra is always there. Urinating doesn't make the pain worse. From the research I've done and how my body feels I'm pretty sure I caught genital hsv1. To make matters worse I think I transmitted it to my eyelid by touching my infected penis and then my eyelid which did develop a blister. Can anyone look at my lower eyelid and tell me if it looks anything like herpes?  I forgot to add that the blister is painless, but my eye is a bit watery. Other than that it's fine and my eyesight is good. Considering how this all developed in a matter of a week after I had unprotected sex it can't be much else than herpes..

Hey I see that they also sell the pill form in 100 mg and 500 mg form. Do you think this is as affective? They have the regular and extract version of the pill. Which would you think is the right one to get? And how many pills per day to get the same effect of say 16 seeds?

I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.
