Hi, i'm new and i was just diagnosed with herpes a couple of days ago. You know it's really nice knowing theres more people out there and I'm not the only one. I've been reading a few of the posts and it's really nice to know i'm not alone and read other's stories. This is a wonderful site =]

Okay, now on to my story.

First off, I'm only 18 so that's a bummer, but I was lucky it came at this time so I didn't have to tell my parents. So i am 100% positive I got it from my current boyfriend, seeing as he is the only person have ever been with, and they only person I have even kissed.

So Dec.28-Dec31 I was on vacation and when I came back I began to feelrun down and just over all not well. I almost completely stopped eating, and wanted to sit in bed with my heating blanket all day. This went on for about two weeks. Towards the end I had gotten a fever, 103-104. That lasted three days. Then I felt better. A couple days later though I noticed this sore on my vaginal area. It was only painful because it would stick to my underwear and I would have to pull them apart. I have always been constipated so when I had gone to the bathroom, it was extremely painful. Since I was focusing on this sore I happened to look down at my anus and there was this little bump, well the size of a pea sticking out. I went to the doctor for that and she diagnosed it with Hemroids. She took a look at the sore as well and said she did not think it looked like herpes so I figured it was just a sore and it would go away. That was saturday. Things got worse. Much more painful and so much discharge I couldn't control. I saw the gyno on Tuesday and pretty much then and there told me it was herpes, then today she called me with the positive test results. Still she said she could not prescribe me anything because it was too late, but now its only getting worse. I am forced to walk normal and go to work and school normal and it is extremely difficult.

My first reaction was that my boyfriend had lied to me somewhere because how would I only get this a year after being sexually active with him. I cried for days since Tuesday, but now it seems to be okay. I can't go back and change things and I have it. It stinks he had to sleep with another woman before me but herpes isn't the end of the world. I guess the whole reason I was upset in the first place was because I was always the good girl. I never got drunk, had sex or anything in high school and then I find someone who I feel i truly love and this happens. I felt gross. This doesnt happened to girls like me. But the doctor was reassuring with me and now I just have to live my life as best I can with it.

Well thanks if you read that, pretty long, sorry. This is my first outbreak so any advice would be great =]!

Hi smh1

I'm afraid your story highlights the fact that herpes doesn't discriminate between those of us who have had dozens of sexual partners and those of us who've had only one. But yes there is a stigma and I guess most of us thought this only happened to other people!

It sounds as if you now realise that it's perfectly normal and actually very common to catch herpes off a sexaul partner months - often years - into the relationship. It definitely doesn't mean he's been unfaithful to you.

You sounds quite a positive person and that's great. You're absolutey right herpes is not the end of the world. I don't know about medication etc as I don't take any, so maybe post a question under 'treatment zone' and you'll get some more replies.

Good luck to you

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.
