Dealing with HSV-1 for 18 years now

Hi. My name is Mike. I'm 34, live in the northeastern US and have been dealing with HSV-1 for 18 years now. It's an extremely mild case, but my gut-wrenching, emotional experiences and fears through the years have been no different than anyone else's.

Ironically, the fact that it's so mild is often what makes it so hard for me to deal with! I don't get blisters, per say. It's nothing more than a little crack or two in the skin at the right corner of my mouth and is difficult to notice even during an outbreak. Of course, it is what it is and I have to deal with it the same as everyone else regardless. It's still tough to deal with sometimes even all these years later, but I'm doing alright.

At any rate, I just wanted to say hello and I look forward to participating.

I have dealt with herpes (HS1) as long as I can remember, I don't get OB's like I used to (thanks to antivirals) but I haven't really had problems emotionally. I guess ignorance is bliss! When I used to get the OB's they were sometimes really big! So if yours are smaller, it could be worse! Have you tried the ointment Abreva? I will use it as well as Valtrex and it does work for me.
