just got genital herpes from my husbands coldsores

hi i am a 26 year old girl, been married for 3 years,have 2 little boys.perfect life until the bumps appeared. i was so confused,but knew my husband is faithfull.then i learned that coldsores can be responcible.i had no idea it was possible.now i am scared to have sex with my partner.he is very suppotive and wants to maintain a sexual relationship.what do we need to do to be safe.

if somebody has cold sores around their mouth.. and give you oral sex.. then it can be transmitted.. you shouldnt have sex when your having those bumps or outbreak and make sure you have an appt. with an ob so you can get meds

Hi why me I'm in the same boat and asking myself the same questions you are. Slight difference however, I did know about coldsores potencially causing gh but didn't know my new boyfriend ( who I've been friends with for a year) got them. Prior to having sex we talked about our pasts, did the responsible questions regarding std testing and knowing this was gonna be a long term relationship went so far as to discuss birth control options. Knowing (I thought) that both of us were "pristine clean" we opted for the sponge. During I first time he tore me and felt so bad about it spent the rest of our weekend together pleasuring me in other ways since vaginal sex was too uncomfortable at that point. 3 days later I started having unbearable pain fevers, bodyaches and I asked him again about his std status....1 thing I didn't ask that first time was "do you get coldsores" and unfortunatly for me that oversight has resulted in my newly aquired std. Culter was done 2 days ago results aren't back yet but I know i'm positive from the progress of severe symptoms I'm already having. It might be silly but all I can think about is how this has ruined sex for me for the rest of my life.

hi disenchanted i dont think it is silly that you feel that this has ruined you sex life i feel the same way it will never be the same.one question do you always feel really sick all the time even when not having an outbreak,it seems that i am allways tired,nautious,and my body aches outbreak or not
