New, Unsure about several things

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I hope you can forgive me for speaking my mind about this but I never thought that I'd ever be on a forum like this, no one does but still. My apologies if that offended anyone I just needed to get that off my chest.

I suppose some background information is in order before I begin my questions. I am still in high school, a junior, I play football, am a national honor society member and enjoy poker as a hobby and little money making on the side.

I engaged in consenual relations with a girl around October, it was a one time thing and was the only intercourse, full, oral or otherwise that I've ever had so the source of my... well you get the idea... is known. Her past was a bit more... varied than mine. I knew this at the time and still went ahead anyway so I'm not here to cast blame on anyone I just have some questions I'd like answered if you could.

I have not yet sought out testing for this but I have several sores on my genital area that I believe are from herpes. My partner did not inform me of anything she was aware of so I really am not sure. It does not burn when I urinate or any of the other symptoms I've read about. There are simply raised areas with scabs along the shaft that itch. However I believe that what I'm dealing with is probably Herpes. If you all could answer some of my questions I'd greatly appreciate it.

1. Could any one familar with Ohio or related law please inform me as to whether or not a physician is required to inform parents about their child seeking a test for or the results of said test for an STD?

2. In order to receve treatment must my parents be informed?

3. Is herpes a legal reason to fail an athletic physical?

4. Can I be prohibited from playing high school football due to herpes?

Finally any advice that you could provide for me would be greatly appreciated. I am sure that consulting with my parents will be one of the comments provided but that is simply not an option for me. I'd like to say that I'm barely hanging on and that to do so would break me but thats not true. I have faith in myself and God but this still probably the most trying time I've ever gone through and your help and comments would be appreciated.

Thank you all so very much,

As far as the playing football, in California, you can play sports/ pass high school sports physicals with herpes. Also, i was 18 when diagnosed, but i know my doctor always told me to be open, honest, and don't hesitate to come see her because everything is confidential that i want it to be, although they did mail my test results home, as long as give me a phone call stating the results. I know other doctors are different, but there is my experience.

1- patient/doctor confidentialy if your moms not in that room with you- she cant find out anything that goes on in that room, test etc.

2- if they are the insurance providers -probably so. but i dont tell my parents what i get unless i want them to know.

4-no- but you might want to research this as there was a story recently in the news about highschool wrestlers all getting herpes, and the schools stoped the sports.

personaly> i dont like when my parents are in my info. especially my health> but i give them the right amount of info to keep them informed. im under their insurance so they know i go to the doctor> they dont know of any test, or anything that goes on in that room unless i want to tell them.

they know i get meds> they dont know what i get unless i ask them to fill a rx for me.

Ok I have some more questions, this is all confusing. From what I've read the first OB is supposed to be painful and by far the worst right? Well the most I've felt is light irritation around the bumps and sometimes not at all... I mean I don't want to downplay how worried I am but I've had mosquito bites that have been more physically agrivating than this. Did I potentially confuse this with something it wasn't? I'm sorry but I'm just so confused at the moment.

some people never have any symptoms ever and some get such light symptoms they never think they could be carrying herpes. whatever you read is just a slight guideline....everyones body is different.....many people do not even ever get sores or lesions,,...just redness, rash, or feeling of cuts, etc......so nothing is typical....everyone is different.that said, get tested and dont worry about your parents finding out for now. First thing is to find out whats going on down below, then take action in all other areas. You could find a free clinic and go... good luck to you.

I did not tell my mom when i was tested pos for herpes. i did not want to burden her with my problem.. but she found out anyway thru the ins.comp. my advice is don't go through this alone..i think the best ppl to tell of your condition now is your family..they will be with you through thick and thin...

I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.
