I hate having to sit at my desk all day during an o/b

The worst part is sitting at my desk...and mind you I get an oB usually when I'm on my period so a tampon makes me reeall sore and crampy and so I have to wear a pad and that just rubs againest my 'cuts' and it is so uncomfortable.

When i am not on my period my doc recommended A&D ointment so the cut area would remain dry and said as long as I keep moisture away it'll heal faster and it does work.

I can relate. Luckily, I hate my job and everyone else at my job hates it too, so sitting there miserable is nothing new for them or me. I just keep to myself and pretend I'm buried in my work.

That stuff you put on a babies butt when they get diaper rash. I would NEVER put that crap on a soar. You want it dry and cleaned out. Not moistened up and stuff. It won't heal if you have it like that.

I work at an office and sit all day, so I know what you mean! The first outbreak I had was absolutely terrible and I couldn't even sit! Luckily, a lot of people were out of the office that week, but to the others I had to come up with lame excuses as to why I prefered to stand! :( And when I got tired of standing for too many hours I would sit but in all these weird positions. The doctor ended up prescribing lidocaine to me. It works to numb the area so you don't even feel it! I used a q-tip to rub it on. It hurts when you first put it on only because you are touching the sores, but it really helps out since then you can't even feel them.

I didn't go to work today. I'm having my first ob and I can't stand the pain. Can't sit, get up, walk, pee, nothing...uhhhhh. Thankfully though, I have a great boss. the day I went to the doc it was during work. I just had to go to a walk and figure out what was going on. I found out what I had and called her and just said "I got some bad news today and I don't think I'm coming back, I need some time to myself right now" then I told her "no, I'm not dying and I'm not pregnant!"...lol..she admitted that did cross her mind. I told her today that the meds I had to take for this are making me sick (which isn't true, for some reason the meds aren't making me sick, but I am in a lot of pain and I thought that would make her even more curious) I just told her I didn't want to say what was going on and she's been very supportive. I think she understands it's something serious, but private.

I'm on my first OB and sitting is absolutely hellish. Or bending to get something on the floor for that matter.

I work at home so it's a blessing that I can lay down in bed for a couple of minutes whenever I get exhausted sitting down but it also hurts even in that position and I have difficulty sleeping.

I dread going to the bathroom to pee but spraying the bidet at the same time helps a lot. It's doing a "major go" that's terrifying for me because whenever I "push" or exert some effort to help it along, it feels like all my sores in that area are being pinched just for torture. I'm almost wishing I had the runs because that would be easier.

The thing that scares me is that it's already this painful and I've only got a few blisters that have turned into sores. The rest are just bumps still and I don't know if all of them HAVE to turn into sores or with meds they will just subside and go away.

What do you think?

I say this to everyone cause it's simple and easy. Soak in some epsom salt. Fill your bathtub and put a couple cups of epsom salt in there and just sit in it. Relax, read, chat on the phone. This can help the soars you have dry out, relaxes your muscles, and all around can make you feel better. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE A DIABETIC. I don't know why but it's NOT good for people with diabetes.

I dread going to work with an outbreak. Mind you I don't have genital herpes and can't imagine the pain associated with such, but facial cold sores have their own emotional level of pain. I'll usually call in sick for the first couple days but inevitably, I must earn a paycheck so I suck it up and go in. It's funny, though: I still care what others think, but not as much as when I was a kid. When younger, severe cold sore outbreaks would be cause for missing school for a week or more!

I cannot back this one up enough, I have an industrial sized bag of epsom salts next to my tub at all times.

On the a&d, I don't know why your dr would have recommended that since the key is drying the sores out, but let me tell you, with my initial ob prior to my diagnosis I tried a&d because I thought it was something gone wrong with a yeast or bv infection and just wanted to soothe the mess down there and my ob EXPLODED after I put some of that on. It hurt like a biotch and made everything a hundred times worse.

My usual disclaimer, that was my personal experience take it or leave it, but dry is the key.

I think ointments and whatnot should only be used after your ob has "calmed down". Like when there are no more blisters, just scabs or if the skin is still irritated from it. I think it helps speed up the final stages of healing at the end of the outbreak. But I too don't think it's wise to use when your in the first stages of an ob.

Baths, Pink Eye and Dogs

I cannot back this one up enough, I have an industrial sized bag of epsom salts next to my tub at all times.

I tried taking Epsom salt baths and they absolutely offer relief from the itching, burning and pain. BUT (yes, there is a "but")... now I've gotten pink eye. I thought it was an episode totally unrelated to my herpes but after a bit of googling here and there, I found out that I could infect my eyes and have ocular herpes or something like that.

Actually, I was quite surprised to get pink eye because I've been keeping myself at home during this outbreak and not going out at all. For one thing, walking is torture so I really wondered where and how I could get affected with pink eye. I take much precaution by washing my hands with soap and water every time I touch the infected area and the only time I remember touching my eyes was while having the salt bath.

IOW, I touched the water where the infected area was immersed and then touched my eye. Could this be the source of the pink eye? I was under the impression that the salinity of the water would "kill" the virus on contact.

Also, since the rest of my body is immersed in the same water, is there a chance that other parts of my body will be infected? (this hasn't happened except for my pink eye but I was just wondering)

Since I'm asking questions.... this may be off topic but I was also wondering if I could infect my dog with herpes at all? Not with the HSV down there because he goes nowhere near it... but if this pink eye is viral and herpes related, could I give it to him? With the pink eye, i'm pretty much staying away from everyone right now so my dog is my only companion during this OB.

Thanks in advance for all your input!

I like my job but was completely unmotivated after going to the doctor. As much as I enjoy it I don't need much to steer me off the path of productivity, and this particular distraction can defnitely derail any project I happen to be on at work for prolonged periods of time. At least I'm still on the clock though! Or unfortunately, depending how you look at it. :(

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.

Both a dermatologist and infectious disease doctor prescribed him HSV medicine. Why would they do that if this isnt "what herpes really does"?
