question - need advice - going crazy

The herpes are not only in my vagina, but near my anus (possible inside as well). There is an especially large bump right on the edge of my anus. I haven't had a bowel movement in several days, and yesterday, I really had to go. Every time I tried to go, however, the pain was excrutiating. I felt like razor blades were coming out. I just couldn't do it. I took stool softeners, hoping that would soften it and make it not so difficult to go. It is now about a day and a half later and the pain in that area hasn't lessened any. I've taken the stool softeners today as well.

I'm afriad that if I keep it inside until the sores heal, I will damage something inside me. I have the constant feeling like I have to go, but there is nothing I can do. Several times, I figured - Just do it, and be done with it - and it will hurt like hell for a few seconds and be over. But honestly, the pain is THAT BAD that i just can't bring myself to withstand it for a few seconds.

This morning when I woke up, I really had to pee, and I couldn't even get the pee to come out without the other stuff trying to come out too (sorry, I'm trying to make this as least disgusting as possible). It took me half an hour soaking in a hot bath and relaxing myself until I was finally able to pee. I'm scared that I'm really going to hurt myself.

What is the best solution? There must be something I can do. How long can I hold it in, waiting for the bumps to go away, before I do serious damage?

It's starting to drive me insane. I can't even walk around my house b/c the urge is so strong. All I can do is lay here.

it hurt at first, but then it died down, but wiping hurt like a bitch so, use some baby wipes if u have.

and if u dont let it come out one way> it WILL come out the other end(mouth) and that well, is nasty.

u can take a whole lot of pain killers like 20-30 min before hand. but ur gonna have to go for it.

before going buy preparation H medicated wipes..........wipe the area and it will help ease the pain....almost feels like it numbs it slightly......then use the wipes to clean as well, not toilet paper because that will be excruciating. This is the only thing that helps me ....I get the razor cut feelings around my anus as well and this does help. Hope it helps you a bit.

If leaving my house was an option right now, I'd go buy those wipes.

Leaving my house in this condition, however, is not an option. I can barely walk. i basically lay on the couch all day and then run from this laying down position to laying down in the bathtub. Anything else is too traumatic.

Though I'd try having a nice strong drink to the numb the pain, and used some of the Lidocaine cream that my doctor prescribed, and tried to give it another go, but I JUST CANT DO IT.

Call me a wimp, but I just bring myself to do it. Going to wait it out I guess. I think i'm irritating it more just by trying.

I am afraid that if you keep this up it will hurt you more in the long run. Do you have epsom salts? That can be used as a laxative if you can't make it to the store. You dilute it with water, the directions are on the container.

For pain in the genital area I've found that the Monistat Soothing Care spray helps with pain and it doesn't have steroid in it. Also the Vagisil anti-itch wipes are kinda like the hemorroid cleansing cloths. The epsom salts have really helped me to use in the tub just to sooth the pain that and the Aveeno Naturals bath powder for poison oak.

Have you thought that maybe the stool impaction could be increasing the inflammation? it's just sitting there leeching out impurities back through your bowel. (I am really sorry to be so blunt)

And I second the comments about pain killers this might be the time to time it all out and go for it. I find that my vicodin rx usually takes about 45-60 minutes to kick in.

Also you should be drinking lots and lots of water even though it initially hurts to pee it helps your body flush stuff out.

I woke up at about 3 in the morning and was just so fed up with this shit already so I shoved a towel into my mouth (cuz I knew I was gonna scream) and finally i was able to force some out.

unfortunately, that was all I was able to handle. but at least maybe I've gotten some of it out. and luckily, it doesnt hurt to pee anymore, so maybe its at least clearing up a bit.

trust me... if i had access to pain killers, i would have been down that avenue days ago. i am surprised the doctor did not prescribe something. the day i went to see her the pain was absolutely unbearable.

I didn't have the same problem as you but I found that the (on call) obgyn Iwas very unsympathetic and gave me misinformation as well. She offered me an rx of acyclovir but didn't explain that she thought I really had hsv so I declined the rx and it took 2 weeks to get the results of the testing and I was in absolute agony. I work in a very professional atmosphere and must wear suits and pantyhose etc. I thought I'd go bonkers. My regular obgyn finally called with the results and I had to make an appt to discuss treatment. He didn't do a very good job of explaining stuff either and again he had an attitide like eveyone who came to his office had this and its no big deal. Neither of them offered me options for pain I've had to figure that out myself.

I hope you get to feeling better I am so sorry this has been so very painful for you.

so yesterday I went to the dr because my cold symptoms had progressed to pneumonia and the dr prescribed Arithromiacin and this morning I woke up with a horrible burning yeast infection. I had one day of relief from the months of herpes outbreak and now this. I just can't win.

Gonna go and get a rx for a pill for the yeast infection I just can't put anything new down there.

FYI - I haven't seen anybody post on this though maybe they have - I broke down and got the Abreva and used it topically in my genital area to the outbreak around my anus and it worked in one day. At least I'm not inflamed there anymore.

i can relate yo you, completely! Have you asked your doctor about this problem yet? Right around the time i was diagnosed with herpes i had developed a lump near my anus. well, sort of on it i guess. i've always been pretty constipated, but this was unbearable. i would cry and cry, and not to sound disgusting, but i got to the point where i would have to take it out myself. talk about disgusting! so the doctor did probably one of the most painful things i have ever experienced, she took this cone like thing and pushed it up my butt. ouch. then she concluded hemroids. i was given hydrocortisone acetate, a rectal suppository so reduce the inflammation. it worked, and now, no pain to go =]. i suggest maybe asking your doc about something like that?

As if all this going on 'down there' isn't enough, I just got my period.

On top of the most excrutiating cramps (which is probably a combination of period cramps and i-still-need-to-go-to-the-bathroom cramps) I now have to deal with my period as well. I mean... what else?!

smh1....after you just said your doctor did one of the most painful things you ever experienced, do you REALLY think i'm gonna go out and seek that? uh... hell no! Maybe it worked out for you in the end, but i'm all about the NOW. and NOW i just cant deal with any. more. pain. (yes, i'm a total WIMP).

Caliope - is Abreva prescription, or can I get it in Walgreens? I might want to try that.

poorme I got the Abreva over the counter and it is an ointment that says it is for cold sores. It is not cheap $17. is a good price where I live but I found it at Costco for a little less but it has 2 in the package for $22. You might look it up on line.

Today I am fighting this yeast crap and it is inflaming everything all over again. The nurse cautioned that the stress could cause me another outbreak - not looking forward to that. I hate my body lately.

Just to share your pain when I was having my outrageous outbreak I got my period too - isn't it great. They seem to go hand in hand.

Okay, well i was just trying to help, and i thought maybe you could ask your doctor if that was a posibility, because it can get serious. And i understand you want to relieve the pain, but sometimes you need to get help, the right way, even if it's pain for a few seconds. And the pain that i felt with what the doctor did, wasn't all too much worse than the constipation i was having. i just advise you to go see a doctor, because i'm sure theres other ways to get rid of it without them sticking something up your bottom.

Poor Me, I am cringing just listening to your issues. It sucks that your going thru it. I was wondering if you are doing the Valtrex daily therapy? I just got diagnosed and havent started it yet, but am now wondering if this (what your having) type of outbreak occurs even with Valtrex.

So today was day 7 of not being able to go to the bathroom. I was literally starting to lose my mind. When I woke up this morning, I had that heavy feeling like I had to go REALLY bad, and couldn't even sleep anymore, but when I tried to go, I COULDNT now. Completely blocked, and I had taken 3 stool softeners before I went to bed. I HAD to go to work, so I went, but as the day wore on it was getting worse. Now did I mention that I have been practically starving myself, because I was trying not to build it up anymore inside, hoping I would heal soon and then be able to go....? Well by noon I was pretty much starving. I had some peanut butter crackers and a peach. My stomach swelled up like a balloon and I began cramping. And I wasn't able to pee. I had to pee, but I couldn't. it was horrible.

So finally I broke down and went to the emergency room. The waiting was agonizing, and I was totally terrified of what they were going to do to me. After waiting forever, I finally got a room. The nurses were very cold. The doctor was younger than me. I asked for a female but of course I got this young kid (male). It was very embarrassing to tell him the issue. He really didn't do anything except poke and prod my abdomen. Then he sent me for x-rays, and then they gave me vicodin and left me in a freezing cold room for like 5 hours. The doctor never came back, and a nurse came in with 3 prescriptions.... one for colace, one for golytely (which is something I have to drink until i get diarreah, then stop), and one for vicodin. My bill was $1009 and the diagnosis was "constipation." Well no shit! (literally)

I could have diagnosed that one for free, i thought they would have done a lot more, but it was worth it just to get the vicodin b/c for the first time in a WEEK (a lonnnnng week) the pain is subsided. My stomach looks like I am pregnant though.

My gameplan is to take like 2 or 3 of these vicodin tomorrow with that stuff I have to drink, and then just get it over with.

Oh, and while I was there, walking to the xray room, I passed out, and they had to do bloodwork, and it turns out I'm anemic again. About a year ago I was very anemic, from low iron, my hemoglobin was a 5 (should be around 13 for a girl my age). It's horrible when this happens... I can't walk up stairs, hurts my legs too bad and i cant breath, i pass out a lot, always tired. This has been the week from HELL. I dont think anything else could possibly go wrong.

Thanks for all the advice and well wishes though. It feels good to know i'm not going through it alone.

smokin weed can provide the same pain killing effects as codiene, and when you have a smoke in the morning, it's a) effective and usually stirs the guts up enough to drop a mean one...

most people have a cigarette and a coffee to trigger a #2 but if you smoked a joint it'd loosen it up downstairs AND help with your pain..

Hey, I totally know, razor blades is a good way to describe it.

Try to get some sedatives,,Valium,Xanax,, but don't take them WITH any pain killers,, or alchohol, for that matter.

I'm sorry you have to stay in bed. Try to open up that area to air, and sunshine is good too(not too much of course), and use a blow dryer, on cool. Try to keep it as dry as possible,,cornstarch works nice, for soothing, like a powder, without scents, and whatnot that can irritate, and make it worse.

One thing I got from my doc to help with HSV pain is a lydocaine gel. It takes about fifteen minutes, but it numbs the affected area, like novocaine does when you get dental work done. Now, this won't totally take care of all the pain, but it should address the unbearable "razor blade" part of it. What a terrible experience you've had! I was certain that you had an intestinal blockage by this point. Maybe you can take fiber-con or something when you get outbreaks, to prevent this from happening in the future...

so, the ER visit was $1009, but they said if you pay within 72 hours, its only $504. my boss asked me for the bill today (i dont have health insurance, but he pays all my dr. bills)... i told him they didnt give me a bill, but if i call within 72 hours they can take his credit card over the phone. so he paid it. then he told me that was the ER bill, and in a few days, the doctor will be sending me a bill. it will probably be between 100-300. he said bring it in and he'll pay it.

the hospital billing dept just called me asking where I want my receipt sent. while i had them on the phone, i asked how much the dr. bill would be. they said the bill i paid today was the dr. bill. the bill they are sending out to me is the ER bill, and its over $3000!!!!!!!!!!! i nearly had a heart attack. total, that's over $4000 for that visit. i could puke.

i still havent pooped. It's going on like 2 weeks now i think. the vaginal area is pretty much healed, but still it hurts like hell near the anus. I really have to go now, and it still hurts. i just took 2 vicodin, and then i'm going to try to go. i cant take it anymore. i have this gallon of liquid i'm supposed to drink, but i want to look it up on the internet first and see how whats it all about. its supposed to give you diarreah and i dont know how many hours this is going to put me out of commission for. its 8:30 and i'm tired as hell.

when this is over, i will be so freakin happy.

okay I'm going to say this because I am worried about you. humans are supposed to poop after every meal. I know that most people don't but it's because they aren't regular.

It is really dangerous first to not poop and then to not eat. I don't care how much it hurt it could get worse. There is no use in putting this off you really don't want another trip to the ER do you? You need to be drinking lots of water too. You should eat some healthy fruits and vegetables and get yourself moving. A walk might help too if you can stand it.

If you can't get yourself regular again soon this can become a chronic problem and your health can really suffer.

Right now all that crap is building up inside you. It is rotting, it is full of toxins and stuff that your body is supposed to be filtering out daily but hasn't been.

The worst thing I could imagine is causing some type of extreme bowel disruption and having it end up in cancer and having to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of your life. That is definitely not sexy and that would make herpes look like a walk in the park.
