since herpes is hard to diagnose and you have this right now I'd get to the dr asap so they can hopefully get a swab of it and get it tested. If it isn't herpes that would be wonderful but if you wait too long it could be and you might not know for sure until further outbreaks occur.

I'm not a dr and what you describe could be several different things. If you go to the dr and he/she thinks it is herpes they can prescribe meds that can help. Or on this list we can give you suggestions of what works for us. I stress that you need to see a dr to know what it is.

If it was me and I was not going to go to the dr's I'd take an epsom salts bath and soak for a while and then keep it clean and dry and not touch it.

If it's herpes it is contageous and can be spread easily.

It coulld be herpes, but what you are describing also sounds like it could be a sort of boil or carbuncle-type thing. I hope you can get in to see the doctor sooner rather than later. Take care...

could be a different std so best to get it tested....might be nothing to worry about ya never know. However, if you have always been getting pretty nasty coldsores on your mouth that reoccur than its safe to say you already have herpes and therefore testing via blood will confirm that anyhow.....you just probably dont think of it as already having herpes but it is. Be sure to get a culture test of the spot asap because if you wait too long and it is herpes it will show up as negative, and not be accurate because of a lack of sufficient amount of virus present there at the time. The culture will show its herpes on that spot so you know, because having a blood test will just confirm herpes as a result of your coldsores and will not tell you if that spot is also the herpes just in a different location.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.

Both a dermatologist and infectious disease doctor prescribed him HSV medicine. Why would they do that if this isnt "what herpes really does"?
