Hi im AngelLune, its not my real name but i dont prefer to use it. I just signed on to this website for people to hear out my story and relate to me because I got genital HSV at a young age. Honestly i am longing to relate to someone, because where i live there is no one who could.

I would love to share my story but i rather get feed back to this thread so i can know im just not talking to myself. My story is sad, but i just need someone to hear me out!

Well ok its all started at age 14.

It was thanksgiving weekend and i started having a fever and red blisters appeared. I had to pee in a tub for the whole out break cause oh my god it burned and i would shake and cry and didnt know what was happening. I finally went to the doctor where she q-tipped the one that hurt the most and made me shake again. My mom was in the room when we first learned i had it. She didnt even know i was sexually active. Worse feeling ever that is 2nd to the worse feeling when a death of a close friend or family member. Cause honestly i felt that day a part of me died. I was young and i didnt even know the whole anatomy of my girly parts. I remember the most shamful feeling of watching a dvd the doctor gave me about herpes. That painful 30 minutes of the terrible un realistic dvd. Today at 17 i had a small out break after 4 years. I forgot how much it hurts. I keep crying at the fact of how tiny i am and how sensitive my nerves are to make a small out break so painful.

And my real big obsticle right now is highschool. 4 years ago i was a scared 14 year old telling my close friends i have the H, where they told everyone. The "rumor" still follows me to the end of my highschool year. Future boyfriends ask me all the time if i have it. It hurts that the first question out of a guys mouth is about my vagina. What really is the worst thing is that girls act like they know for a fact and tell guys i have h so they would stay away from me.

I mean what if your whole highschool knew of some sort you had the H? You would lie and lie your ass off right? What if you were in highschool and people had been talking about the rumor at your freshman year to your senior year in highschool? Even if you denied it every year?

Hey all! I’m new and my diagnosis is pending. I’ve done so much research that I have a new understanding and respect for people living with herpes. That being said it wasn’t like that alway, I had been a part of a stigma we all know very well up until my latest annual pap. So I went in and had my pap and just a routing std check. Two days later and my OB calls and says everything’s good on the pap and the bloood work came back but there’s an acute result for herpes. Although he states he doesn’t know which kind or where and to come back in 6 weeks. So me being the 22 yo uneducated student, freaks out. I am asymptomatic and at the time he advises to check around my mouth and lips for any cold sores. I had a minor canker sore like lesion on my gum above my tooth and that was it super minor discomfort. So I went into a care now and the doctor did a pcr swab of the cut and another igm and an igg. So it’s about 5 days waiting period and during that time I get sick, similar to pharyngitis ( it was so bad I went back, the doctor gave me  Valacyclovir in case it was an outbreak). So now I really am thinking ok this is most like HSV-1 being it’s possible but less likely to be HSV -2 And I have zero symptoms on my genitals unless it’s dormant. And then plot twist, I get all results back, second igm, viral swab, and igg and all negative! What is going on?

Hey @sheikha and welcome to the website. Different tests around the world have different numbers as to what means positive.  Do you have details of what test was performed? Does the paperwork indicate what number means positive? For some tests it’s 1.1, others 11 and some more than 20!

What symptoms brought you to test in the first place

Over 3.3 is a strong positive. You could repeat that test. I'd assume I had it.

Lysine seemed to dry the blisters during outbreaks.  They would take about the same time to heal but there would be no/less fluid while using lysine.  At first it seemed like it was reducing the amount of outbreaks, but after a couple months they were coming just as often as before - if not more often.
