HSV2 cold sores

I have been diagnosed with HSV2 and only have outbreaks as cold sores. I've been getting more OB's as I get older especially when I've been sick. I haven't found anything to help with the symptoms. Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Have2Smile, welcome to our family :).. Your oral h2 isn't in its preferred location. When you get sick your immune system drops down and so does the ability to fight off any infections. Are you on antivirals? I would suggest you get some Lysine. It keeps h from replicating in the body. Also Vit.b12 complex is great for nerves health, energy and relieves stresses. Stress is my biggest trigger, I'm genital h2 for 24 years now. I no longer get outbreaks. Keeping the immune system up and eat well and getting plenty rest is most important. Some tell me that Abreva and toothpaste work to dry up the sores. How long have you had h? Also I see you are in a very cold place in the world, Carmex for the lips also works very good to keep them from becoming chapped and wind/cold damaged. Another thing for most that can cause outbreaks. Your h2 should not be giving you too many outbreaks, it usually stays genital location, but can go oral when a partner has genital herps and that said partner receives oral. Take care, and welcome. Truly, Ace :hithere:

Thanks Ace

Thanks for the warm welcome Ace. I've had cold sores for as long as I can remember. I've tried Abreva and Valtrex for a while and had some success but then they seemed to stop working. I've been taking Lysine for about 6-12 months and am still having problems. What I would do to stop having outbreaks!

Honey my biggest trigger is stress, it gave me my second outbreak ever almost a year ago :( .. The Vit.b12 , try adding this to your Lysine. Also I know its cold where you are, has anything changed? Like diet, worries sleep pattern, all these things play.a factor. Are you seeing someone who could possibly have oral h and may not know it? Just a secondary thought. For me it was giving up some caffeine. I drank a lot of soft drinks with artificial sweetners, now I just have my pot of coffee a day. Love my :coffee: so that wasn't an option. Sit back and think what has changed for these outbreaks to have kicked up again. Take care, Ace :hithere:

Just read how Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez helped raise $340,000 for transgender youth. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-casually-joins-171241889.html It sure would help if we had some celebrity or public person champion our cause. Maybe that should be our focus, to reach out to public persons and try to enlist them.  All it takes is a tweet from the right person.

Dr. Iwasaki is definitely deserving of funding. I'd love it if we could do a fund raiser for her. I guess at the moment we are already doing the Fred Hutch Center.

Hi, I’ve had HSV1g for 4 years and only ever had my first and only breakout. I’m super thankful for that. I still hate disclosing as it sets off alarms. Finally met a guy I really really like and disclosed last night to be clear about why I’ve been hesitant to be intimate.  We have for sure kissed and after telling he was in a panick about us having kissed. I’ve never ever had cold sores and have never passed it to anyone. Again in 4 years only my first and only genital HsV1 breakout. I’ve always been told kissing for me was fine....Can anyone help clarify? I’m resllt struggling as I like this guy a lot and hoping he can look past it.
