Hello my name is Katherine and i am 21.

On December 2nd i noticed an mildly irritating itch down stairs so i grabbed a mirror and took a look. To my surprise there was a row if very tiny pimple looking bumps. I dealt with it for that day and the next day. I did all kinds of research on the topic and everything kept popping up was "genital herpes" So a little freaked i ran to my doctors where she a swab of the bumps and said i had to wait for the results in a week or so. She put me on valtrex just in case. It all started on the 2nd and ended today, the 7th. The itching and bumps are gone. I had no other symptoms and still don't. I am still taking the pills and I am going to wait to here from my doctor but I am scared and have no one to talk to.

I doubt that is what it is usually the first outbreak you will have a full body reaction to it. It burns and lot of people feel really sick as well. It's like chickpox not sure if you had that before its the same virus family you get a fever and basically feel lousy.

Well I got my results back today and i tested positive and I am pretty heart broken. My husband is still convinced its not herpes because my 1st and only outbreak only lasted 4 days and was only a few bumps with no other symptoms. I tested positive for type 2 and a mild yeast infection so as if the herpes wasn't the only thing right? My doctor said since i am so young and my 1st outbreak was so mild that she doesn't want to put me on a continuous treatment but she is giving meds for just in case i get another outbreak. I guess that's a good thing? But i have a few questions and i would really like if ya'll could help and inbox me if you'd rather talk there but yeah here it goes....

1. since my 1st our break was in one small spot is that where it will only pop up on my vagina?

2. if i don't touch it will that help it not spread to my bottom or thighs?

3. what are somethings that have triggered an outbreak for you or can generally cause one?

4. What are home based things i can do to keep an out break at bay or help shorten its time?

5.How does herpes affect your work life? i mean can work be bearable with an outbreak?

I have excepted the fact that I have them (i kinda did that already when i got tested) so the shock was not too bad when she told me i tested positive. I just want to try and live a normal life and be happy. I know it can be done because when those bumps went away it was life was normal again. And i know that its only going to be hard when i have a flare up. My husband doesn't want to except it but he said either way he loves me and will never leave me and we will still have a normal sex life which makes me feel great. He has apologized for cheating and giving it to me. I am so thankful you are all there for me and you dont even know me. Thank you so much

I believe it’s type 2 but apparently either strain can be found either end! So I will hopefully clarify all this in the coming week!

@WilsoInAus https://forums.herpesopportunity.com/topic/8577-unprotected-sex-and-transmission-of-hsv2-with-no-symptoms/ Here they say we can shed the hsv2 virus up to 35% of the time. We are far from the 4% transmission rate. That rate is not for everyone. So if i always have prodome and i shed more than others my transmission rate is a lot higher than just 4% so please stop spreading false information.

Unsure whether this is something to be worried about or not. Coming up to 3 weeks now. I’ve been to a sexual health clinic and they said there’s nothing to worry about. I haven’t had sex in 6 months I’ve also never done it without a comdom. There is no fluid in them even when I’ve tried to squeeze them. There’s also 2 of them near my belly button
