Dental Dams

I have read plastic food wrap is a good substitute for a latex dental dam. Has anyone had experience with plastic wrap? Is it true that it is safe?

Hi optimistic. My understanding is that plastic wrap is too porous.

From: On the Safe Edge: A Manual for SM Play by Trevor Jacques:

Some people have used Saran wrap instead of latex for prolonged rimming or oral-vaginal contact. This is an unsafe practice. Supposedly, Reynolds film is better than Saran, is better than Glad Wrap, is better than Handi-wrap. You'd have to be an engineer in polymer chemistry to understand why. It has something to do with micro-pores in the sheeting. If you're in the situation where you've just got to go down on someone, NEVER use a barrier that says it's microwavable. This immediately means that there are micro-pores in the plastic. Good old-fashioned Reynolds film or Saran wrap is better.

Have you tried buying an assortment of dental dams? I taste-tested some I ordered online a while back, finding them a little easier to deal with than a cut up condom. I admit I have not actually used them, or had someone use them on me.

I believe it’s type 2 but apparently either strain can be found either end! So I will hopefully clarify all this in the coming week!

@WilsoInAus https://forums.herpesopportunity.com/topic/8577-unprotected-sex-and-transmission-of-hsv2-with-no-symptoms/ Here they say we can shed the hsv2 virus up to 35% of the time. We are far from the 4% transmission rate. That rate is not for everyone. So if i always have prodome and i shed more than others my transmission rate is a lot higher than just 4% so please stop spreading false information.

Unsure whether this is something to be worried about or not. Coming up to 3 weeks now. I’ve been to a sexual health clinic and they said there’s nothing to worry about. I haven’t had sex in 6 months I’ve also never done it without a comdom. There is no fluid in them even when I’ve tried to squeeze them. There’s also 2 of them near my belly button
