Questions (Lysine/Vitamin C)

Recommended Posts

I was recently diagnosed with genital HSV-1. I have always gone the natural route with sickness/injuries/etc. Right now I am on Acyclovir and would like to not have to rely on the antibiotics if I don't have to.

From my research it seems like the overall consensus is that Lysine and Vitamin C seem to be natural suppressants of the virus. Can anyone give me a good daily dose of each that I should take? Lysine seems to come in either 500 or 1000 mg, same with Vitamin C. I'm a college student, so right now these two supplements are really all I can afford.

hey there, i personally take 1000mg lysine a day and 2000mg if i get an outbreak ... and vit c i take 1000mg a day. they are chewables so i take 500mg twice a day otherwise you just pee it out. i do take other vitamins but i wont get into that since you mentioned you only can take those two, which should be good enough. i think some people take diff mg/day depending on what works for them.

I take 1000mg of lysine a day, sometimes 1500. And I take 10,000 mg of vit C--basically a megadose. I was having horrible OBs and this has helped. But I just started both (in addition to the Valtrex) right around Christmas. I LOVE my skin on the Lysine--wonderful side effect is that it helps acne!

Just a small note of correction...you take an antiVIRAL for HSV, not an antibiotic. They function very differently as an antibiotic is for bacteria in your body. HSV is a virus, so you need an antiviral.

Just read how Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez helped raise $340,000 for transgender youth. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-casually-joins-171241889.html It sure would help if we had some celebrity or public person champion our cause. Maybe that should be our focus, to reach out to public persons and try to enlist them.  All it takes is a tweet from the right person.

Dr. Iwasaki is definitely deserving of funding. I'd love it if we could do a fund raiser for her. I guess at the moment we are already doing the Fred Hutch Center.

Hi, I’ve had HSV1g for 4 years and only ever had my first and only breakout. I’m super thankful for that. I still hate disclosing as it sets off alarms. Finally met a guy I really really like and disclosed last night to be clear about why I’ve been hesitant to be intimate.  We have for sure kissed and after telling he was in a panick about us having kissed. I’ve never ever had cold sores and have never passed it to anyone. Again in 4 years only my first and only genital HsV1 breakout. I’ve always been told kissing for me was fine....Can anyone help clarify? I’m resllt struggling as I like this guy a lot and hoping he can look past it.
