Greetings from So. Cal.

First off, I must commend all of you for having to bear your souls and summon the courage to talk about HSV so freely. Chin up to all!

I found out I was diagnosed about a month ago after having cultured swabbed from my sores. I didn't suspect I had herpes until I found a sore on my ex-bf.

He was very quite about the whole thing which leads me to think he might have known he has had it.

That's besides the point. My main difficulty with having the virus is thought of being intimate again. The fact that I must and I will be vocal about having it, makes me feel very unsexy. But I know somehow I will come to my own terms to understand it and accept it.

Honesty is everything.

Hi Chickie! I was just diagnosed (visually) with HSV2 last Friday. The thought of telling someone is one of my biggest fears so far. Hopefully we will find the right one some day :)

Are you on suppressive therapy or episodic? I am thinking about starting suppressive therapy after my initial 10 day course of Acyclovir is over Monday.

Yes, i hope we all find somebody to love us inside and out. I took Acyclovir when i was first diagnosed, but i don't know how to go about the suppressive therapy. I gotta look into that.

chin up herpsters!

We will survive!

Herpsters!! I like that :) Anyways, I think that I am going to do 400 mg of Acyclovir twice a day for suppression and see how that works. I can't afford Valtrex until I get a new job and health insurance. I think you can get the Acyclovir for around $30 a month without insurance. There is also a canadian pharmacy that sells them for like .24 cents a pill. I don't know if I trust those sites though. You never know what you are getting. I also thought about asking planned parenthood how much they charge for the meds.

Hey yall

Awesome. I take 800mg Acyclovir for suppressive therapy and I love it! I've been on it a few mos and have only had one VERY MILD breakout ...before the ACV I used to get em BAD like twice a month :( my doc reccommended suppressives since my husband is HSV negative. MY only concerns are conception/pregnancy since no reports are conclusive on its tetragenic effects on the fetus....so....hmmmm..... anyway I think you've made a good choice :) plus, Valtrex "becomes" acyclovir eventually in the body anyway, plus its been around longer and is the most studied...so I wouldn't worry about switching unless you don't like acyclovir. I was wondering about the online pharamcies too....anyone know anything about that? How do you know you're not just getting placebos or expired meds, etc? Anyway good luck to the both of you...just wanted to encourage you and tell you about my experience with Acyclovir. ALso, if it doesnt work please keep me posted on what does. Like the rest of you, I'm always looking for that "miracle cure" LOL but you know what I mean. Just new stuff that works. :)

To give some context I hve been suffering with this for the last 6/7 years this came about after I had varicella zoster on the inside of my body a week after I started getting clusters of spots on the top of my buttock they are not painful as such can be itchy at times but majority of the time I don’t feel it when I have an outbreak. I’ve been to various doctors who say it’s a fungal skin infection or a bacterial skin infection. I’ve asked if it’s herpes but they will say it’s not without even testing it.

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us
