I read that Genital HSV can occur anywhere in the "boxer shorts" area. Does this refer to outbreaks or shedding?

What area is this concept applied to for Oral HSV? The "dust mask" area?

the best way that I understand is from personal experience. in the genital area the nerves are connected to the lumbrosacral ganglia. I had ob's show up in the genital area around the vagina and mildly on the labia. then it moved down to the perianal area and around my anus right up my butt crack. I am going to say that shedding occurs from the locations that vesicles have erupted or where there is the sensation of tingling or itching. I accidentally spread some when shaving bikini area. Not good to shave during an ob or when it is just healing.

For oral infections it seems it can show up around the lips, nose, inside the mouth including the gums and throat. it can also infect the ears or eyes by self innoculation. Probably could be spread during shaving of the beard also.

It seems likely that in both areas it is difficult to keep from accidentally spreading it to nearby tissue just by reason of hygiene. Blowing or wiping ones nose or other use of bathroom tissue.

so your theory seems correct to me.

mine seemed to spread more because of accidental contact than by it moving on its own within the area of contact. it is really hard not to accidentally touch areas that are so close to one another.

sorry i'm trying to be polite.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.

Both a dermatologist and infectious disease doctor prescribed him HSV medicine. Why would they do that if this isnt "what herpes really does"?
