why do Dr. not care to do their research, so we who are diagnosis can do ours?

i'm ok now

i was diagnosis about 3 months ago.... while having excepted my fate, i also want to be able to educate myself/boyfriend with the condition we have sexed our way into.

i dont write much on here, i normally read as many posts as i can weekly (due to everyone who is new has the same questions i have/or had.)

the one question i did have, i wasnt going to get the answer from here, due to my Dr. being the Dr. and also doing the culture that rocked my world at one point......

my question is/was what type do i have 1 or 2????????? i was never given this info, so i called back to my clinic to see if i could get this info... apperently knowone at my clinic took notes and added this info to my file which type i have....

SO i wanted to ask this question to those who know way more about this then i do? how different are 1 & 2, and can 1 or 2 show up anywhere? my first and only ob was on my leg... kinda close to my "girl" located on my thigh..... isnt 1 cold sore herpes and 2 is genetal? i know you can have both in both places... which is why i orginally asked my Dr..... Damn i wish i could go to work and do a half ass job and be paid allot to NOT follow through all the way... I knew i should have been a DR!

did you test even come back positive? sound they they dont know cause it might be negative> which then i would rec. getting another test done.

usually #2 is supposed to be "worse" then one. with the frequency of outbreaks.

yes 1, and 2 can show up anywhere its all interchangeable. alot of docs will say 2 genital 1 oral> just a old standard that they have yet to get rid of ( i went to the doc w/ my genitals ON FIRE, he knew for sure it was herpes, when my test came back i could not believe he told me i didnt have genital, but i had the one that gives you coldsores~mmhumm)

lol doctors do alot, but i do agree sometimes they really do, do a half ass job.

thanks for replying...... they said i was positive for herpes simplex (did i spell that right?) but herpes simplex can be 1 or 2 right? when i called back the nurse said she wasnt sure what type it was, and that it was weird because they didnt note it either in my file..... i know i have it because of the ob that i had plus the culture came back and ruled out shingles..... what else could it be? she said i was positive... should i be tested again? i dont know if i could go through that again.... being told i had herpes wasn't easy for me at all to hear (as per everyone else when diagnosised!) and i dont think i want to relive the phone call again......

I believe they are required to keep your lab results in your file. Perhaps you need to have a chat with the dr who ordered the test to be completed. My medical provider would only allow my results to be delivered by the dr.

I made an appointment with my dr and took in a list of questions and wouldn't leave until he answered them. Kinda like making him do his job completely right?

You may want to ask for a herpes specific bloodtest if they can't tell you what you have.

It should not be so traumatic a second time because the results aren't going to be so shocking.

ya.... your results come on a sheet of paper. printed from the lab that did the testing, indicating how much of said type you have inside you.(anitbodies)

so the info would and SHOULD be in your file.

maybe the nurse is lazy- that happened to me once, i called for my results and she said my book says your positive, i asked what the numbers are "i dont know but the book says you are" so i was like well what the fuck are you refrencing in the book, and she proceded to just make me another apointment to come in.

yes herpes simplex is 1,2- and yes you should be tested again, in fact a few times. and dont worry, YOU already know you have herpes, what is a phone call going to do to you, its just going to add into the info you NEED to know.

I'm a big girl.. hell i box, i've taken harder blows then this before (i am the biggest LA~la when it comes to my heart/feeling/and std's i guess now too) :( THANK YOU GUYS! i think that is why we get along so WELL..... he found a girl who loves spike tv, UFC, IFL, AND boxing!!!!!! when we found out about having this life condition we were blessed with (being very sarcastic) i was a mess (him to kinda) i asked what do we do now, his reply was "well we become valtrex spokes people.... what else do we do dork, we stay together forever!.... laugh at each other when we fall down!..... cry when we run out of coffee creamer...... and cause havic every where we go because my girlfriend is a bad ass!

what do you say after that???? he's right, and perfect for me!!!!!! he is the only reason i have been able to look past this whole herpes thing.... and really because of his support (with me being a lala about it) it really doesnt bother me anymore. I'm still the same girl, mommy, lover, trust'y, daughter, sister, bad ass, that i was 24 hours from the day before i found out!!!!!!! i think that is the KEY for everyone who runs into this devistation to rememeber..... as long as you dont get caught,,,, its ok to talk to yourself so you dont forget who you are. AND remind yourself daily, your still alive, and people dont miss you yet because your gone!

God: "so i have decided your fate"

me: "what? your telling me i get to choose?"

1. herpes

2. hunger for life

3. 9-11 victim

4. struck by a bus and not making it

5. HIV

6. hurrican katrina victim (loosing your WHOLE FAMILY)

7. killed in a school shooting

8. poverty (and never ever being able to supply your children w/ food etc... or watch them go to college (where no shooting acure)

9. being addicted to muli drugs including heroine, and then die from it alone of an overdose.

10. shot in the head at gun point, while going to the store for coffee creamer.

Terms and conditions of lifes contract, what you choose will affect everyone around you, so choose carefully!

so as i see it after watching the news last night..... i'm pretty luck still!

I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.
