Is this true?

I had a UTI at the beginning of the week... I'm just now getting over it. Now on one side of my vagina, I have sharp pains on and off. At the beginning of the week when I called to ask my doctor for meds for the UTI, they called me in Valtrex instead. I was confused so I brought it up at my appointment today. I was informed that the stress thats put on my body from the UTI can cause an OB so they wanted to nip it in the bud and have me take medicine more often for 2 days...the doctor also went on to tell me that the sharp pains and awkward feeling I have on the right side of my vagina are symptoms of a flare up. Is this true? To date, I dont think I have experienced an ob.Of course I had some generic valtrex so I didnt go pay 33.50 for 6 pills @ the pharmacy.

Do you have hsv? The sharp pains can be symptoms of an ob. This does not mean that you will get all of the classic symptoms sometimes the pain is the symptom.

For about 8 years the only symptom I had was *severe* backpain and genital itching. Never an ob with blisters, rash, ulcers, lesions, vesicles at all. Only the intense pain.

Lately I have realized that the Acyclovir takes the pain away in days instead of weeks like in the past before I knew it was caused by hsv.

so you may only experience the pain that you are describing and that is your ob.

mine has always caused me pain in my back in the sciatic nerve. I suspect it is like this for me because it is hsv 1 and the other ob I have gotten lately is from hsv 2. both are genital. one is only on the right and the other only on the right hand side. Of course I've never had the hsv 1 confirmed but I suspect it is the culprit.

Is it common to have them inside vs outside? If this is the same issue I had last year (before I was diagnosed) then the only thing that seemed to help was metrogel antibiotic gel. Also what determines where your ob will appear? I hate to sound like an idiot but I'm bummed about having the leisons inside vs out...I would much rather prefer out b/c at least then it will heal faster.

southern-belle, I think the location is based on where you came into contact with the virus though it is not necessarily contained in that one area.

the few actual ob's I have had have been basically external though had one little lesion show up on the internal side of labia and it hurt big time especially when urinating. OUCH! It did not help having my period at the same time.

do you not use the antivirals? I've found lately that the suppressive dosage isn't enough so I take more and things are much better.

Yes, I'm on Valtrex... 500 mg daily. The internal ob's are terrible! I've been reading about lysine... Have you tried this method? If so, did you have favorable results?

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.

Both a dermatologist and infectious disease doctor prescribed him HSV medicine. Why would they do that if this isnt "what herpes really does"?
