Hello,

Have had cold sores most of my life. Usually 4 episodes a year. Lately I have had them non stop. For at least 6 months I have had no more than two weeks without one. I have gradually over the last year cut out soda, caffeine, nuts, chocolate and all of the other "dangerous" foods, at least to the best of my knowledge. My episodes have been increasing as of late. I started using the NOAB program with the DSMO and BOL/Oxygen therapy. I believe I overdid it and looks as if I may have made my problem worse by taking too much or using too much. I presently have 3 cold sores and have had a cold sore since starting the program. I am so bummed out. I've had a very stressful couple of months and wonder if this is it. I just ordered Chorophor and hope that will at least help. I also stopped taking acyclivor as I felt it wasn't working anymore. At first I didn't experience any real difference, but wonder if that may be part of my present problem. I started taking it again a few days ago out of complete desperation. I am so completely frustrated and confused. It seems the harder I've tried lately to get a program that works, the worse the cold sores get. I truly need help. I am happy to pay someone qualified to help me but don't know who that would be. Does anyone know who I can speak with that may be able to help. My doctor is great, but seems limited on his options. Any feedback on DSMO/Oxygen therapy, Charophor, etcc would really be appreciated.

trace,

I'm so sorry you're having a rough time with all of this. Although I cannot begin to feel your pain or frustration as I've never really experienced any kind of an ob I do feel for you all the same.

My primary suggested I see an Infectious Disease Doctor. I know the name sounds horrible but in fact the doctor she recommended to me happens to be covered under my insurance and that is what this doctor is listed under as a Designated Specialists. My primary said this doctor specializes in this so what ever problem I am having she would be able to help me, educate me and conduct all her own tests etc... Maybe you should find someone like that to help you... just a thought.

Check out this website: Maybe you will find someone info here since you can browse by the state you live in. http://www.ucomparehealthcare.com/drs/infectious_disease_physicians/

Good Luck and Take Care

Sometimes we have small increments of stress that keep increasing and can lead to our immune system being compromised. This can be caused from simple things like other medications and common activities.

Hormones can be a factor. Sunshine can be a factor as it can increase ob's. Asthma and allergy meds that contain steroids or corti-costeroids can effect your immune system as well as common allergy meds that control histamine production.

There are also emotional triggers. Have you had a death of someone close to you or the end to a significant relationship that has your heart aching. This can cause ob's too.

I didn't have any ob for years and then suddenly they were constant. I'm on antivirals and doing everything imaginable to boost my immune system so that I can get back to normal. It's a major bummer but sometimes it happens.

If you take vitamin supplements I recommend boosting Lysine and vitamin c and drinking more water.

To give some context I hve been suffering with this for the last 6/7 years this came about after I had varicella zoster on the inside of my body a week after I started getting clusters of spots on the top of my buttock they are not painful as such can be itchy at times but majority of the time I don’t feel it when I have an outbreak. I’ve been to various doctors who say it’s a fungal skin infection or a bacterial skin infection. I’ve asked if it’s herpes but they will say it’s not without even testing it.

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us
