5 YRS+ and some solution

Hi there i felt like it was time for me to write my story and possibly help someone else who is suffering with this virus.

I have hsv2 genital herpes and have had it for just over five years. For me it has been one of the hardest things in life for me to deal with and it still gets me down but i get to talk about it now which can make all the difference.

Since my first outbreak i have suffered with recurrences at least once a month sometimes twice in that time. I now am Getting some distance from it with longer periods in between outbreaks. I have tried acyclovir short and long term but to no avail. I find that it can treat the virus short term but then im more likely to get another outbreak quicker after using the treatment.

I have tried not smoking, i dont drink or use drugs, being healthy, cutting out so called triggers caffine, dried fruits, lysine and all the other so called natural viral treatments but none of these helped me in any way.

The only thing that i have found to help and this is only in the last six months is siberian ginseng tincture and multibionta vitamins with a probiotic in it. I stumbled on the siberian ginseng after years of trawling the net till the early hours trying to find cures etc in my total desperation. Im not endorsing these products for anyone or saying that it will work for anyone else it is just my experience so far and if it can help someone else then fantastic.

Aparently the ginseng promotes T-cell response which protects us and strengthens the immune system. Type it into google and you'll find it. Aparently the russian discovered it and although it had good results was never pursued. It is the cheapest but most potent of the ginseng family.

All i can say is that it is either coincidence or it is working for me and believe me when i say i have tried it all and this is the only thing to come close so far to making me feel almost normal.

I Still struggle with it at time but must say that iam married now with a beautiful 18 month daughter. I told all partners that i carried the virus before any sexual contact and i never had a bad repsonse and my feeling was that if they weren't willing to understand then they weren't my type of person anyway as it was such a big part of my life to me.

My wife to this day does not carry as far as we know and i am very careful and dont take chances. I suffer from painful prodromes, butt ache, testicle pains, headaches and a general totally worn out tired feeling so usually i get a good warning, but it is also making sure it has all cleared up after before resuming sexual contact in any form.

My wife is an angel and is willing to listen to me go over the same thoughts and emotional pain that i get from it which helps loads. I can get so down and angry that i want to go mad. I used to feel untouchable like a leper and dirty and disgusting and although these thoughts can come back they dont linger for as long now. I still crave a cure and i believe that there will be one in my lifetime so all is not lost there is some great research going on right now in active vaccines.

Having herpes is not an easy road and understand anyones twisted thoughts around it, ive had many! I just thought i would like to share my experience and see if anyne else had used my remedy and if it worked for them. Anyway enough for now hope it helps someone.

Welcome

It's good to hear that you have a wife and family that help you to feel loved and wanted. That is what many of us dream of.

It's also nice to know that you didn't experience complete rejection in the dating world even though you were honest about your status. On this list we need to hear these stories. Just curious what age group are you in? 20's, 30's? Do you think your age is a factor in not being rejected?

but honestly I want to know where you find the siberian ginseng and if there are any side effects or negatives to trying it. what form does it come in?

what's a multibionita vitamin? Is this a multi-vitamin formula that contains probiotics?

do you find this combination reduces ob's or just the symptoms?

Siberian ginseng

Hi there thanks for your reply to my thread i was feeling like my words were having no effect. I have had this for so long now and such bad reccurences that i always felt doomed to be single and never have sex again.

Actually it turns out that all is not lost, by being honest with people i have actually gained respect from them and a closer relationship. At first when i found out i didnt tell one person and the guilt of the possibility of passing it on was too much. Although i used protection i would always be at edge if they felt unwell etc. It is totally unfair anyway people should have the choice and the awareness helps us all to quash the stigma. Everyone i have told knows someone who has it, an ex, a friend, a lover so nobody i knew has been totally surprised. I was rejected once but at the same time i could understand why. I personally couldn't be with someone who couldn't accept me for who i'am or be willing to try to understand, so in a way it has helped me find the person i love in a way that is not skin deep.

In response to your questions i 'am now 34 and have been with my wife for 3yrs. Age is probably a factor but then you get to i guess i would have found it harder if i was younger but then again knowing what i know now for anyone out there its ok, take a risk and see what happens, even through pain there is growth and it can only take you one step closer to the person that truly understands and loves you unconditionally. Just that is priceless and amazing.

With regard to the siberian ginseng, im in the uk, and here the best way to take it is in a tincture (liquid form) its more concentrated with better quality ingredients. You can get it in capsule form but i stick with the tincture. Like echinacea (which doesnt help me, for herpes anyway) you can take it once or twice a day in a little water for four to six weeks at a time but then take one to two weeks off of it. I buy the siberian ginseng here from holland and barret, its about £8 per bottle but that will last a long time. It has a dropper in the lid for easy measurement. Apparently it promotes T-cell response in the body which attack the virus. It is also an adaptogen which means that it will do for you what your body needs, if you are stressed it will combat the stress hormone etc. Please look it up its very interesting. I have had no side effect form this.

Of the outbreaks ive had using this they have been significantly smaller in size and less time on the prodrome phase which used to last two to three days but now its generally a day. I would say that it still takes 7 days to heal properly but then i wait for it to totally go before resuming sexual contact, i dont takes risks it really isnt worth it. As long as i do everything that i can possibly do to protect my wife from it then i feel happy. If i feel something and am not sure then i wait a day to see what is going on down there. She understands that even with the best care in the world there is always the possibility of transmission and accepts that.

The multibionta tablet is just a probiotic multi vitamin, and you know it helps keep the gut healthy which is the basis of a healthy immune system, combine it with lots of water and this will help lots also.

This so far for me has helped with reducing my outbreaks and symptoms, I should also mention that i have only been using the siberian ginseng for about six months and that it can take 4 to six weeks to build up in your system so give it sometime and a chance. I was using it for 3 weeks and then had an outbreak which disheartened me but i persevered and have at last been getting a little distance from herpes.

Anyway i hope this has helped, please let me know if you try it and you get a good response. Sorry if this all seems a little disjointed but to me writing all this brings up so much and actually reminds me how far i've come in dealing with this virus. I just feel like i want to pass on to others what has helped me.

Thanks again for your reply.

I've read about the siberian ginseng just last week and before you wrote so I was happy for your timing.

I'm afraid of tinctures and I guess I'm just gonna have to get over it.

I use probiotics and daily vitamins along with Acyclovir but I really want to stop the antiviral meds. When I reduce my dose I immediately have freaky symptoms so I need to get things balanced before I make the break.

It's good to hear your experience with dating and success in finding love. Lately there's been a debate on this forum and several individuals have asserted that if you are in your 20's or 30's your age group has special sexual communications that the rest of us don't understand and apparently it makes it more difficult to date. I don't understand it myself because I don't think any age group is easier to deal with when admitting to having hsv.

I'll share with everyone what happens when I get the siberian ginseng and have given it a fair test. You suggested several months for results.

I am going out first thing tomorrow to Holland and Barrett to buy some, i know of people who swear by it,just as an everyday pick me up,they have said they could not function at the pace they do without it...

When i had my first OB, i was so drained and exhausted, although this has improved i have never felt back to full energy levels at all.

So will keep you informed, thankyou Sedona 1

I love that you are sharing your experience with something natural, Thank you! I would be very interested in feedback on how it continues to work for you?

I'm taking so many suppliments now I rattle when I walk...But I'll add one more if it helps.

I go over everything I'm taking with my naturopath to make sure I'm not poisoning myself.

Thanks again

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.

May 13 ( day I will never forget).. a guy I was dating and I drank way to much and decided to have anal sex. We did use protection however, not enough lube, wasn’t done correctly and it was painful. So bad that I yelled out and fell off the bed. Anyway, oral was also performed on me anal and vaginal. Flash forward to 3-4 days after that. I was in the most intense pain I had ever felt. I went to a gyn she tool one look and said it looks like herpes. She swabbed me . 2 days after that, yes it’s HSV1 . I was still in pain, irritated anal area and vaginal area and It was unbearable.  today, I still have irritation and itchy and when I pass a bowel i’m in pain and the itch is crazy.     When I first was diagnoses the gyn gave me valtrex which I did not take bc I was in so much pain I could not move for 2 days.  Groin lymphs were swollen I had fever , tired etc.  I am wondering if I had taken the valtrex would it have kinda liked stopped the virus in it’s tracks enough to reproduce? Do people see a correlation between no more outbreaks and immediate initial valtrex  use ? I am 43, I never thought this wound happen as I am not a promiscuous person, I hardly date and I always use protection when I do have intercouse , have yearly std tests. I’m just so sad that i’m at this point right now . I’m trying not to get depressed but this is making my body feel miserable. I’m an avid runner and biker and mom of two teens. I feel like my life as I knew is over. I want to feel better already.
