17 and incredibly upset

Recommended Posts

I've had two cold sores this year. I never had them before and I had a cold prior to both of them. The first one I didn't know what It was. This time when I got sick I tried to prevent one by relaxing and being healthy. I woke up with one this morning and I can't stop crying. I thought it was just a rash last time and now I guess it's confirmed that I had what I didn't want. I don't know what to do at school tomorrow. I don't know what to say to my mom. I need help. I'm so scared.

Hi and welcome to the site. I am sure we will be able to help you out a lot.

Can I just check whether we are talking about cold sores around your mouth or lips, or downstairs?

Please try to bear in mind that 70% of the population have HSV-1 and, or HSV-2! Over 90% of people have other forms of herpes such as HHV-6 and Epstein Barr.

If what you have is cold sores, then you are part of the majority family that have nothing but sympathy and empathy for you.

On my lips.

The issue I'm having is that when I was little I got these rashes that, now that I think of it look like cold sores, under my nose when I was little and got sick. I hadn't got them for years. Then I got a cold sore. Also the one I'm having now is different from the one I had the first time. I don't know if that's normal.

This does seem all perfectly normal.

I was infected as a kid and when sick with colds or similar, I would get cold sores running up and down the inside of my nose as well as lips. These days it is mainly on my lips a few times a year. There are very varied experiences with cold sores, but yours seems similar to mine.

Here's one thing to do, get some cream such as Zovirax and massage it in. Leaving some residual over the top to cover up some redness. People will either not notice (it is way more noticeable to you) or if they do will understand as they either have it or someone very close to them will. You're completely normal, walk tall and proud.

I’ve had herpes for over 25 years and the last 15(ish) years all my recurrences except 1 have been on one side and usually in the same place. Just at the start of my left outer labia. Which does help me notice the start of a recurrence a bit better, but not always.

Hang on @tweetsoc this is just self-indulgent self-delusion. What is super tricky about HSV? You're only saying that because of the super trick situation you are in having cheated on your partner, stop deflecting, how does that help anyone least of all yourself? You do not know you are going through an issue with HSV; it is pretty much certain you are not.

The first article is from 'The Sun' which is just a sensationalist rag. The second article deals with a correlation between HSV-2 and cardiovascular issues that may cause ED. Did you actually read it? NONE of the participants experienced ED at the time of infection and 0.5% self reported EDS after 12 months. How does that fit with your 9 days. Herpes infections do not cause orchitis, that's just a myth that is started and perpetuated by people on web forums. There is no medical evidence of this. It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with me on HSV. There is no subjectivity in the facts that I present.

None of this changes the fact that: you cheated on your partner and you can't cope with that; and you do NOT have genital HSV. Yes I do have to lecture about messing up because you are not dealing with it. You are creating a world of confusion from fake and/or obscure accounts of HSV in order to not deal with it. Whether you consider it nasty or not is exactly the point - this is the key thing that is wrong with you - when are you going to address - man up! Who has tested years later despite a negative WB?

Thanks tweetsoc,  I haven't taken anything but ibuprofen. My doctor won't give me anything without the lab work. I get tested on the 17th and if negative again 4 weeks after that  I will look into prostatitis and definitely ask him about it. Best of luck to you. I hope you get some relief. Are your symptoms constant or do they come and go? It's strange how the brain works. Sometimes this drives me crazy and sometimes I have just got used to the feeling of hot sauce in my pants. good luck to you.
