About a week and a half ago I woke up one morning and had a hard time urinating and a little discharge. I also noticed what looked like a small blister in the shaft and promptly proceeded to tear it open while peeing. I went to my M.D. and I am awaiting the results of my blood and urine tests. The other day the discharge cleared up and I also thought the sore was clearing up but I'll be damned if I now have another crop of blisters that are turning into sores and there are several this time. I have another appointment with the Doc today to go over the results.

I have been in an exclusive relationship for more than a year and a half and I have no clue where I could have contracted it. She has never shown any signs or anything although I dont know if she has ever been tested.

I am so terrified of the impact this might have on my relationship and life, that there are times I seriously consider suicide as the only option.

Could I have been carrying it and not had an outbreak for over 1 1/2 years? If so why so long till I have an OB? How long will these symptoms last? What are the realistic treatment options? And how do I tell my partner, and maintain my already shaky grip on my life?

I really need to hear from someone.

hold up; you do not even have positive results yet. suicide is totally out of the question. this is hard to deal with at times, but things could be alot worse. this is a great site to get you through the rough moments, days, etc. you can get soooo many of your questions and concerns answered right here.

there are many, many success stories on this forum.

think positively.......

keep us posted on the results and we will go from there, you, me and everybody on this site.

You need to just breath and realize that you are letting your fears get the best of you.

It is possible to be infected with hsv and never know it or for it to hide out for many months or years. Either you or your girl could have been silently carrying this and never know. It is certainly no indicator of someone cheating and it is not the end of the world.

It is scary and definitely upsetting when you consider the possibilities but don't let fear of the unknown take over your mind. don't make any rash decisions and wait until you hear from the dr and find out the results of the test before you let yourself get too wound-up. Sit down with your girl and let her know what is going on so she has a chance to be part of your support system. She should also go and get tested just to be on the safe side.

Most std testing series don't include hsv. It is one you have to specifically request.

Hopefully your results will be negative.

i HAVE BEEN READING ALL OF THESE POST FOR A MONTH AND HAVE READ YOU CAN HAVE IT FOR YEARS AND NOT KNOW IT. liKE HOW MANY YEARS ARRE YOU TALKING? 2 ? 10? 20? wHAT IS THE LONGEST YOU HAVE HEARD OF

B4 AN OUTBREAK?

I'm not trying to get famous here (yeah, great....I finally get my 15 minutes of fame!!)....but read some of my past posts.....I've apparently had it for 20 years without an ob or any symptoms (myself or my three partners during that time). I swear, I'm going to find an STD clinic and donate my body for research so they can figure this one out!

I want to thank everyone for the support and positive words. I went to see my Dr. yesterday only to discover that the lab screwed around and for some reason didnt do the test and didnt notify anyone. My Doc looked at the scabbed over sores and cant decide if it really is HSV or not. He prescribed Keflex and Valtrex both because he said it may be a secondary skin infection, and I have started taking about 3000 mg of Lysene daily. What the heck is he talking about, is there really anything that mimics HSV so well? Even down to the swollen glands and blisters? The only symptom that is really strange is that the sores do not hurt at all except when the scabbing tears.

Any info would be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you all again. It really doesnt look so terrifying in the light of a new day.

      I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

      Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

      Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.

      Out of curiosity, did you take valtrex at the very first OB?
