Now this....You've got to be kidding me :-(

I just realized a few days ago that I have genital herpes. I am so depressed, and I just don't know what to think. It all started out with just a sore that looked like a paper cut. I thought the "cut" was just the result of rough sex. Oh, how I wish that were true! A few days later I noticed that the "paper cut" had become extremely swelled and that there were other bumps starting as well. I am in so much pain....I have never been in so much pain in all my life. I have been extremely healthy my entire life. I have never been so sick or ill that I've had to go to the hospital, and I've never broken any bones. Now that I'm feeling these extreme amounts of pain I just don't know how to handle it.

What makes things even worse is that I work retail, and am on my feet for 8 hours a day. I'm always walking around, only sitting down for my half-hour lunch break. I know that the friction is not only making things more painful, it is also probably making it worse, as well as taking it longer to heal.

The past two days were extremely painful for me. It hurts to walk around, bend over, and it's extremely painful for me to use the restroom. I haven't been drinking much lately to eliminate some of that pain.

I want to take time off from work, but I don't know what kind of excuse to give. I can't and won't tell my bosses the truth. I am SO mortified. I at least know that they will know when I do take time off that something is really wrong with me. In the past five years, I have only called in from work once. I am dedicated to my job, and it will make me feel bad to miss work...but so much pain.

I am too embarrased to go to the doctor until I heal up a little more....so for now I have no comfort except for Vicadin, which doesn't last very long at all. I just ordered H-balm for overnight Fex-Ed shipping....so hopefully that helps as much as it says it does. If it does, I'll let you know. It's non-prescription, and less embarrasing that picking something up from the pharmacy.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I'm newly diagnosed as well and it's been really hard trying to accept it and get through the day. I know how your feeling and it sucks, but I want to tell you that if you're in a lot of pain then you should definately go to the doctor... I work at a GYN facility and have seen many people come and go with new STD infections. I never felt anything but sympathy and compassion for them and so did my co-workers - so don't be embarassed - it happens all the time and do the best people!!

Also, your doctor has probably seen it all - so I wouldn't be so embarassed about going to have it looked at.

If you're worried about going to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, ask if the doctor might have some samples of the med you need to save you the embarassment. Also, maybe a close friend or family member who knows about this would be willing to pick it up for you...

I'm not on medication right now only because my symptoms are not bad (I barely feel it), but know that if I did hurt really bad, I would go on them.

(Everyone has to work and keep up with their responsibilities right?) And I don't know how I could handle all that, the knowledge that I'm newly diseased AND being in so much pain all at once!

Also, this thing has completely changed my life. I used to drink 8 cups a coffee a day, eat unhealthy things, and drink frequently. Now I've quit everything and have started eating much healthier and I feel better than I have in years! There are some positive things that can come out of this if you're willing to make the changes. Things ARE going to be ok - I promise - hang in there!! :)

go to the doctor hun. soon as possible. they will give you meds to stop the pain and out break. it'll also stop anymore outbreaks during this episode. The doctors will not make you feel embarrassed. they know this sucks for you. I work 10 hours a day on my feet as well. I know your pain. get some long flowing skirts and dont wear undies.

I've just been diagnose, although I think I've been positive for 4 years. I would suggest going to your doctor right away b/c it will be easier for him to assess things before they start healing. Call and speak to a nurse and tell them that you have blisters thar are very painful and you need to be seen right away before they go away. Like mentioned in the previous posts, don't be embarassed to go to the doctor. Although it's still horribly uncomfortasble to talk about, you must remember that the doctor sees this mroe often than you realize - plus all kinds of other gross things!

Take a day or two off work to rest. Your employer is not legally allowed to ask you details about your health. You can tell them that you are ill or that you are having a medical issue and you will be unable to come in. If you had the flu, you would take the time off. Remember that you do not have to tell your boss your condition in order to take off. I promise the last thing yoru boss will think is that you've gotten herpes. If yoru boss wuestions whether it's a made up excuse when you don't offer details, get a letter from the doctor stating that you are have a medical issue.

I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.
