Terrible pain, what works best for relief

I'm having my second outbreak and it is much worse than my first. I came down with bronchitis and the outbreak took major advantage of that. The location of this on is terrible too. Sorry for the graphic, but it's right on the inner labia, at the bottom. This has been going on for over a week. I thought I was beginning to heal, but the sores started bleeding. OUCH!! What do I need to do to make this heal and relieve my pain? I've tried Epsom salt baths, tea tree oil, and lidocaine. All are good for a while, but nothing seems to be helping me heal. I also take lysine, b-12, and vitamin c.

Are you taking any Rx antivirals or using a Rx topical cream? You hadn't mentioned either of those, so I'm curious.

You might try Dermoplast (in the blue can), it's a pain relieving spray...and it doen't hurt/sting when applied. It was initally given to me after I had my daughter so it's perfectly safe to use on "the girls" without throwing things off balance. I used it during my first outbreak...it did provide some relief.

If you are able...get naked waist down...and get comfortable. It will help keep you dry. Plenty of rest, tylenol/ibuprofin for pain (and you can take them both at the same time). Hope you start feeling better soon!

Since I'm not sure where you are...have you tried local drug stores (Wallgreens etc) maybe even Target/Wal-Mart. You'll find the Dermoplast in the same place you would find treatment solutions for Poison Ivy/Oak and other cortizone creams. I also heard that Calamine Lotion (the pink stuff you put on bug bites) can help a lot too.

Best would be ibuprofen, then tylenol, but for natural pain relief I'd say none, there are things that can help heal, though pain relief is only, to my knowledge, found in man-made substances. My herbal book says, catnip, mint, chamomile or even dill can help pain. Never tried those for HSV outbreaks, however.

Good luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

I have had 3 OBs and the 1st and 3rd were the most painful. Both times, I was taking antibiotics and had bronchitis and ear infections while having an OB.

I found that oatmeal baths, and I took 3 Aleves to help with the pain. 2 just weren't strong enough. I also used A&D ointment which helped soothe the affected area. I hope you feel better soon...I know how miserable you can be. :)

That will sound real wacko but LEMONS. You've got to redress your acid balance. Bring it more to alcaline. 80%of what you eat right now should be alcaline forming food. The other 2O% acid. And lemons and water melons top the list. Do this and watch the magic as ypur body starts to heal itself. A great ressouce for a list of acid forming and alcaline forming foods is www.rense.com/1.mpicons/acidalka.htm

Everything I've read says that citrus fruits should be avoided during an outbreak.

citrus fruits are alkaline forming

In the beginning I also stayed away from anything citrus because I was told it would worsen the symptoms. Well I decided to forge my own way into this thing, find out by own experience, taking personal responsibity for my attempts and staying alkaline was what stompted my virus. Everything else was able to stop the outbreaks, or lesen the severity but nothing prevented me from actually getting to the tingling stage except staying alkaline. And Lemons are just one thing which helps. Checkout the site http://www.rense.com/1.mpicons/acidalka.htm for a full llist of alkaline forming foods.

By the way watermelons are also very alkaline forming and are in season.

A note on lemons, though they are acid (in the mouth) they have an alkaline reaction in the body. Perhaps this may explain the confusion.

Thanks so much for this link. I am going to try this. It seems to make sense. And you are right - I was wondering why you said lemons, which are very acidic when you eat them. But I guess that would probably cause an alkaline reaction in the body to counteract the acidity. I'm going to drink some lemonade tonight.

homemade lemonade

Make your own. Two lemons squeezed in a glass of sparkling water. Ahhhhh. Nothing beats that. Sweeten with organic sugar cane evaporated juice only if you must. Store bought lemonade may be filled with artificial sweeteners and aromas which are acid forming and would defeat your objective. Beside lemons are cheaper than lemonade. Trust yourself make your own. And while you are in the supermarket pick up a jumbo water melon and eat your way through it.

I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.
