I was just diagnosed today with hsv2, although i've been pretty certain for the past 3 days. I'm a 16 year old girl, about to be 17. I've been/slept with the same person for the past 5 months. I don't know how I could deserve this, or who i got it from(I've only been with a small amount of people. 4 over the past 2 years). I've been a wreck, I feel like i'm gonna lose my relationship who i've been on and off with for over a year and a half. If I didn't get it from him, and it turns out i gave it to him, I don't know what i'm going to do with myself.

I feel like i'll never get married, never have kids. Like my family will no longer accept me. And I don't know how I will ever be intimate again.

I brought it up to my partner the other day. He said he'd still love me no matter what, but kept saying "it's probably not herpes". So I feel like he's ok with it just because he doesnt think i have it.

I feel like I should move far far away, where no one knows me. Please, tell me..happiness does come? And one day i'll be ok with this?

Another thing. I was put on acyclovir. If your on it, has it worked well for you? Someone also mentioned Lysine tablets... should i be taking those?

Sorry for the babbling. I can't think straight, and can barely put a correct sentence together right now.

you need a hug

You are a sweet beautiful girl. It is scary especially at 16. is there someone you can talk to? I have a daughter not much older than you and if that happened to her, I would want her to tell me, talk to me. It is just too much information to handle at your age too much unknown. even though my daughter does not know that I have it. I have taken this opportunity to tell her the unknown risk that even I at 50 did not know. Knowledge is a powerful thing. Just because someone does not tell you or does not know that they have it does not mean that you cannot educate yourself from this day forward. YOU ARE SOMEBODY SPECIAL, NEVER FORGET THAT . You need to gather all of the information you can. You are not dying, no one is shooting at you and you will not die from this, inconvenient yes, but livable. You need to find a good dr that you are comfortable with. I saw a lady doctor and she was absolutely the most compassionate person i have ever met. You wouldl be surprised at how common this is and they can help you make some decisons about what treatment options you have. Finding out who gave it to you will not change the fact that you have it. But you might want to tell your partners so that they may be tested so as not to infect others. I KNOW THAT IS SCARY SINCE YOU ARE PROBABLY IN SCHOOL SOMEwHERE IN YOUR TOWN AND TEENAGERS TALK. bE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL YOUR GUTS TO JUST ANYONE. hAVING HAD A TEENAGE DAUGHTER, GIRLS CAN BE INCREDIBLY TWO FACED. REMEMBER DON'T LOSE YOUR DIGNITY NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT FROM YOU. i WISH i COULD JUST GIVE YOU A BIG OLD HUG! YOU NEVER QUIT BEING A MOTHER! YOU FEEL FREE TO PM ME IF YOU LIKE AND WE WILL CHAT. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP TOO MUCH . BELEIVE IT OR NOT YOU WILL BE A BIGGER , STRONGER WOMAN DUE TO THIS. I WILL BE THINKING ABOUT YOU. TITANIC

I am so sorry to hear about everything you're going through right now. How scary to feel like you can't even talk to anyone about it. You have definately come to the right place. We have all been where you are today emotionally, and we've all gotten through it or are getting through it. As hard as it is to believe, you will get through this too--with or without your current boyfriend.

Do you think there is any way you could talk to your Mom about this? You'd be surprised how understanding she might be--at least she'd love you and do everything she could to help you. I am the Mom of a 17 year old boy, and I would hope that he would come to me about something like this. Parents have an amazing way of dealing with things differently when their kids' health is at risk. It's not like you broke a lamp, or wrecked the car....you are sick, and need some help and support.

Yes, Lysine is an amino acid that is shown to help keep the virus from being as strong and able to replicate as readily. B-complex, C, and zinc are also extra important if you do have herpes.

You will indeed get married, and have kids, and have all of the other things you want out of life. Read more posts in this forum. There are people from all walks of life, in all stages....just starting out like you are, people with kids like me, people getting married or about to. Your life will not always revolve around herpes (if you even have it) any more than your life revolves around your period. You may feel like crap for a few days (with either), but life continues to move forward.

This is a great opportunity for you to reevaluate who you are as a sexual being. It's not the number of partners you've had, but if you reflect back....did they all DESERVE to be with you?? You are special, and are worth waiting for while you decide, in your future relationships, whether or not THEY are someone special enough for you to share yourself with (on all levels, you know?).

Again, all of us know what you're feeling. You can ask us anything, anytime.....if there is anything else I can do, feel free to send me a private message. Remember, you are the same, beautiful young woman you were a week ago (before you even thought you had the virus). Nothing about YOU has changed....you have just contracted a virus. This virus is NOT who you are....you just carry it around.

I did not take acyclovir, I took Valtrex for a couple of weeks. Someone else can help you with that one. Good luck! Keep us posted!

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.

May 13 ( day I will never forget).. a guy I was dating and I drank way to much and decided to have anal sex. We did use protection however, not enough lube, wasn’t done correctly and it was painful. So bad that I yelled out and fell off the bed. Anyway, oral was also performed on me anal and vaginal. Flash forward to 3-4 days after that. I was in the most intense pain I had ever felt. I went to a gyn she tool one look and said it looks like herpes. She swabbed me . 2 days after that, yes it’s HSV1 . I was still in pain, irritated anal area and vaginal area and It was unbearable.  today, I still have irritation and itchy and when I pass a bowel i’m in pain and the itch is crazy.     When I first was diagnoses the gyn gave me valtrex which I did not take bc I was in so much pain I could not move for 2 days.  Groin lymphs were swollen I had fever , tired etc.  I am wondering if I had taken the valtrex would it have kinda liked stopped the virus in it’s tracks enough to reproduce? Do people see a correlation between no more outbreaks and immediate initial valtrex  use ? I am 43, I never thought this wound happen as I am not a promiscuous person, I hardly date and I always use protection when I do have intercouse , have yearly std tests. I’m just so sad that i’m at this point right now . I’m trying not to get depressed but this is making my body feel miserable. I’m an avid runner and biker and mom of two teens. I feel like my life as I knew is over. I want to feel better already.
