I've been reading this board for about the past 3 days. I just found out a few days ago I had herpes, which at the moment isn't the hardest part to deal with.

Right now all I'm looking for is something, anything to help the pain and heal the sores. I'm already taking Acyclovir, which I'm told although generic it's one of the best medicines out there.

I've read through as many topics as I can, and there seems to be so many different ideas out there I don't know what to go with. I've had this outbreak for about 5 or so days now...they said the acyclovir would start kicking in by now.

In any case I'm still in extreme pain, I've already missed 3 days of work and school. I don't know what to do! I'd have to say going to the restroom is the most painful part of it.

If there is anything you guys can suggest, PLEASE let me know.

Hi ludehope,

Yes, it's just because everyone's body is different. You're gonna have to find the best way for yourself.

But right now, I guess.. you are having herpes outbreak for the first time (correct?). The initial outbreak is usually the worst. I went to emergency room 2 nights in a row. Though doctors gave me some stronger medicine than tylenol, my pain and fever didn't go away.

Acyclovir must be working, but it's not a painkiller. It may take a while that your pain goes away completely. Some people stay in bed for a couple of weeks when they have initial outbreak.

Are you male, or female?

Some girls told me that "dermaplast spray" ( topical anesthetic ) works for the pain in genital area. I've never tried myself, so I can't really say how it works, or how safe it is.... but.. you might want to try that...

I suffered from pain a lot in a first year or so. I don't like taking a painkiller, but I sometimes had to take it, because the pain was huge.. Other than that I didn't do any special thing for the pain, but the symptom became milder as I got many recurrence.

Sorry... that's all I know..

I can imagine how stressful it is to miss work and school.... but.. resting a lot to make your immune system work normally, is the best medicine for herpes. Try to rest, as much as you can.

Please take care...

Faith

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.

Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
