Ok i am young and i love going out (main reason why i am on this board today) and i was wondering i could still go out have some drinks with my buddies? They all go out 3 or 4 times a week and i was wondering i could tag along once every other week? Are their certain drinks that would work well for me i.e. vodka water with a lemon? I love jack and cokes oh so much and i will continue to enjoy them but i feel like that drink is a double whammy for my H.I see how alcohol is a trigger for some but maybe not me? also if i kept drinking would the herpes learn to ignore it and build a teloerance to? Any suggestions of recomendations? thanks

well unless its a trigger, then i dont see why not. did you drink this much before you found out?

idk about building a tolerance to alcohol... alcohol isnt a drug thats going to change the dna of something...

the only thing i would be worried about is sharing drinks, i felt horrible last week at the bar a friend was having her friend come, and she told us she had herpes, and the girl asked if we wanted to taste her drink, and no one would even touch the cup- and she kept insisting. the girl who invited could have been a little more discreate but atleast she warned us. so just dont share your drink if you have it oraly, or someone else has it.

Since i've been reading up on this i have read alot about staying alklyne instead of acidic. Look up the thread or i will try to find it, in it they say that coke is extremly acidic and alcohol is also a trigger. Are u on Valtrex? I have just recently been diagnosed and while i was on meds on got drunk a few times, didnt have any ob. But i would imagine that if you arent on meds and are drinking frequently then it may increase the chances of getting an ob.

I'm not on suppressive therapy, no special exercise, diet or suppliments. I get my drink on every weekend like I always have. Never triggered an ob. But that is just my personal experiance.

strong - that is very encouraging to hear! i think that since i am just new to this shit and everytime i have a drink i think i feel something itching or tingling. If i couldnt drink with this i would most definitely be going on a long walk off of a short pier. Is their any drinks you specialize of do you drink it all?

To drink or not to drink?

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but ....drinking lowers the body's imune system, not to mention what it does to your liver and other organs.I've never been a real big drinker, execpt between the age of 30 till about 38 when I discovered I was border line alcoholic....now at age 45 I don't drink at all. There is a period in my life (apx 2 years) that I don't remember....thats not a good thing.I've cut out almost all caffien (execpt the 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning) my biggest vice was Dr.Pepper....althought I do indulge at least once a week and have a can, some habits are still hard to break.

The reason why you'll get tingles and stuff from alcohol, is because it is extremely acid. if you're already mildly acidic (you can test that with litmus strips) or by watching what you eat, you're just gonna prepare the biological terrain ideal for mletting the herpes virus repicate - OUTBREAK

Reason why stong doesn't get any outbreaks is that he drinks hiw with grape juice and grape juice is extremely alkalizing so what he is doing(WITHOUT KNOWING IT) is raising the alkalinity of his drink so what he puts in his body is a lot less acidic. If you were to drink your alcohol with cola well that's a recepe for disaster. As both are highly acidic forming.

There is a product called alkalife which you can pt into your drinks. it doesn't alter the taste but it raises the PH. Making your alcoholic brreww less nosive. Can understand why people need the drink at all. The Russians (I think it is) drink alkaline water with their vodka. If you must booze here are some tips, Lord forgive me.

Drink at least one litre of water with a high alkaline PH. Find one in your supermarket. And keep it at hand for those times. Someone told me they found water with a PH of ten in their supermarket. I am so jealous! If you can get that buy alkalife and ad the drops to your water afterwards. The next day if you're not too hangover to move (or prefeabbly the night when you get home) squeeze four lemons into a glass, knock back pure. It you canndrink you can do lemons. DRink lots of water. Drink pure grape juice, preferably the red or black variety. Good for your health. Welches is not grape juice. Check out the organic isle you'll get some real stuff there.

What else? Have a bath in baking soda - empty one entire box in to your bath tub and soak. It is extremely alkaline. Pour in 250 ml(before you get in) 35% hydroge peroxide into your bath and stay there. The oxygen will be absorbed into your body via the skin and oxygen is pure alkaline.

Wish my dad weres till alive to day. He lost his battle to alcohol at the age of fifty two. Died a terrible deaf of chirrosis of the liver. I wish I knew what I know now then. My boys would have had a grandfather.

Errrrr!!! I'll be the first to say it. You are kind of nerve racking. I can't stand self rightous people. I'm just stuck with all your banter because I come to this forum. Ugh.... You are soo irritating. You are like the person who lives by do what I say not what I do. And I will never ever respond to you. I thought for a bit you had insite. But to be honest you just like to rub shit in peoples faces. Ok Ok.... I'm ready for whatever I have brought upon myself for this. Just can't hold back anymore.

You get on my nerves so bad. Sorry mods but damn... do with me what you will.

One reason, aside from the physical effects alcohol has on the body, and immune system, is alcohol is a depressant.

After reading some posts here I don't think adding a depressant to the mix is a very good idea.

Try getting healthy physically, and emotionally first, and then when feeling a bit more stable have a drink on occasion.

LOL, this post is ending up to be quite pathetic. We went from somebody asking about drinking alcohol, to lashing out at those who decided to response. Ya know, we all get moody, we all, I am sure, have not liked some of the posts we have read here, but this is just ridiculous. Be respectful of those who respond with good information, whether you like the answer or not. Some of us have years of experiences to share, some of us are so naive it is scary. This forum is a place for all of us, the knowledgable ones, the newbies, the motherly types, the comedians, etc. Let's be nice to each other. Or, take your rants to the right threads.

Back to the alcohol question, I have not changed my drinking habits, and have not any issues with obs.:D

LOL - TBF it does annoy me when people critise others for drinking.

in england drinking is a big part of culture - part of the socail lfes of many people, whereas over the pond it seems your consided an alcoholic if you drink more then once a week and need "counceling"

lol - not being funny, but what is it with americans and counceling.?

reply to drinking alcohol

Hi,

I read just yesterday that sometimes vodka can help dry up cold sores. But you have to be careful not to drink too many days out of the week or to drink too much because it can lower your immune system. But besides that, drinking should be okay. I have not had any problems with drinking though, and I usually drink about 4-5 mixed drinks once a week.

I drink like a fish and it never had any effect on my HSV.I drink vodka like water (straight/no chaser/no ice).I guess this is another one of those things that vary by the individual.

Hey gutted I remember a time when smoking was a major part of the social culture. What's this new EU law about smoking in places where people gather socially? What we need is a EU (european) mandate to bring back the prohibition. JUST KIDDING. I don't want to be stabbed. JUST KIDDING. Anyway I'm just a bit sensitive to it having seen the not so lovely side of the bottle. So you can understand my not so hearty approbation of it. Not the people who have it - it, the drink.

yes we can no longer smoke in bars, resturants or any other public places with are not outdoors..

alltho - all these places now have smoking areas - and i find most people gather around the smoking area - well the smokers do.

yes there is a bad side to the "bottle" - but there a bad side to everything in reality.

cigarettes sales have not dropped since the new law have came in.

https://imgur.com/a/cVi8yJY 2 weeks ago I had unprotected oral sex. Few days later I wake up with a stinging sensation in my urethra. I don't have any blisters, lesions or redness, my penis looks completely normal from the outside, but the stinging in my urethra is always there. Urinating doesn't make the pain worse. From the research I've done and how my body feels I'm pretty sure I caught genital hsv1. To make matters worse I think I transmitted it to my eyelid by touching my infected penis and then my eyelid which did develop a blister. Can anyone look at my lower eyelid and tell me if it looks anything like herpes?  I forgot to add that the blister is painless, but my eye is a bit watery. Other than that it's fine and my eyesight is good. Considering how this all developed in a matter of a week after I had unprotected sex it can't be much else than herpes..

Hey I see that they also sell the pill form in 100 mg and 500 mg form. Do you think this is as affective? They have the regular and extract version of the pill. Which would you think is the right one to get? And how many pills per day to get the same effect of say 16 seeds?

I had an IGG test  and the ranges were out of range and high  HSV 1 was 42 and HSV 2 was 19 so I guess it was accurate but the problem now is I can't figure out when or who I got it from. In 2018 to 2019 when I was with my ex I was STD tested but not sure if herpes was included but my ex was supposed to get tested but refused. I experienced some trauma with him and didn't date until a year and a half later so I'm confused. The guy I dated after the ex who didn't want to be tested I told them a week ago about my results he was trying to be there for me and understanding,I told him to get tested but to request a herpes blood test , because he had no noticeable lesions or bumps ever is what he said and I never noticed any on him now he has shut down all his social media and I can't reach him. Hoping he's okay, I feel bad because in 2018 I did have what I was told it was an abrasion that tingled but at my doctor the day I was tested they told me it wasn't herpes but I think it was only a visible diagnosis. I keep having it reoccur from time to time

Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.
