Hello! 2 questions about Herpes / Shingles

HI everyone. I hope this posting finds everyone well enough and pain free from symptoms. I wish I were.. My Shingles have poped out again, under my rib cage.. Now Thats Painful! (And I've got a wedding to attend in 5 days for my brother's son.)

But, It's a change though as I'm usually getting a full blown Herpes groin outbreak instead of the chest shingles.. but it's all painful so what a suffer to do?

I do have 2 Questions someone might be helpful with answers for..

I'm usuing Acyclovir... for my shingles/herpes, but regarding Tee Tree Oil.

1) whats the deal with Tea Tree Oil? I'm told it does work at 100% watered down a bit.. what is it suppose to do to help? and do I have to add a whole concoction of other remedies ive seen other people use all at once together for it to work?

2) Also, I've just heard on our local news, there is a Doctor in Toronto Ontario Canada, named Dr Fredrick Hui ( www.drhui.com ) and he's claimed he's treated and cured Herpes Virus.

Dr. Fred Hui of Toronto is being hailed as the conqueror of shingles by a growing number of cured patients who sing his praises from Elliot Lake and Kansas City to Germany, Korea and China.

Does anyone know if his claim is even possible? I thought there was no cure for Herpes / shingles.

Dr. Hui treats patients with nerve blockers, acupuncture, herbs, a cupping technique and meditation training and has achieved a response rate of 80 percent, he says, without significant side effects. Many of these patients had suffered from this agonizing condition for years and the nerve was normalized after two or three weeks of treatments.

If anyone knows if this is even possible and works, can you let me know as I'm near Toronto and I believe the newstory said after about 8 treatments at $45.00 each session, someone can be cured from shingles / herpes by this Doctor Hui

Hmmm...I looked over Dr. Hui's website and the information is very interesting. Someone has said it before that with HSV affecting 1 out of 4 or 5 Americans, you'd think that there is a cure out there but to the point of Angel, the profit is in the treatment, not the cure. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a real CURE in existence (as with HIV/AIDS) but it's more profitable for pharmaceutical companies to sell treatments...

I'm guessing that Shingles is AKA herpes? I wonder if Dr. Hui could cure me and get me a negative blood test afterwards. I wouldn't mind taking a trip to Canada for that. Who'd go with me?

Shingles are asssociated with OLD AGE?

The shingles strain of the virus is closer to chicken pox than it is to HSV-2(genital herpes). Like HSV -2 it hides in the nerves. Lying dormant till your immune system is compromised. However shingles is more associated with old age than anything else.

Occurances of shingles are not as often as HSV-2.

My first bout of Shingles started at 23 yrs.. Now 15 years later.. I have the herpes virus that affects the groin shaft and head of penis. VERY Very Painful!!

I dont know what to do when THIS breaks out as the penis weeps, skin peels and is not nice at all to deal with.

I take Acylovoir 800mg- 5 times day when this breaks out, but it will still take 3-4 weeks to fully clear up. however I am finding that I can sense when its starting, so I can start the Acyclovoir early enough to get enough medication into me before it fully flares up.

WHat more can I do to help progress the healing? Tea Tree oil, Olive leaves?

Now, I still get shingles under my rib cage, but not as much as I did years ago... More often it returns as herpes on the groin ever 2-3 months, usually.. and I'm as celebate as can be.. I dont have sex for fear I could pass this on.. and I've lost my sex drive because of this fear.

what a great way to live huh? But rather be safer than knowing I passed along this horroble thing to another.

Maybe I will check out Dr Fredrick Hui in Toronto to see if he CAN cure Shingles / Herpes (www.drhui.com) if I can afford his treatments, as his web site says he has 80% success in curing this.

I'll let everyone know more if I'm able to connect with him and see what his fee's are... as he is in Canada.... only about 70 miles from my home town.

I'm sure it will be worth anything to be cured from this painful problem!

Falkor...hang in there!

I'm so sorry you have had such a bad time. I had 2 drs. that thought my HSV was a less common form of shingles. I got HSV when I was married. I knew my ex. had HSV II many, many yrs. ago when we got married. At that time they did not think you could infect a partner if you did not have an active outbreak. We were very careful not to have sex when he had outbreaks on his penis. Unfortunately, that was not true and I contracted the virus. I had no symptoms or problems all those yrs. until a couple of yrs. ago when I got really run down and my immune system was not good. I have had ongoing outbreaks ever since, milder with taking 500 mg. Famvir every day.

It is nice you care about not giving it to someone else. Unfortunately, many people do not. For many of us, HSV completely changes your life in a drastic way.

I have found too much stress, not enough sleep, depression really aggravates this virus, increases the outbreaks and makes them take longer to heal. I know some people that find the above plus too much sex also makes it worse for them. In having both, you are really going to have to take good care of yourself every day and do everything you can to boost your immune system. I too worry about giving it to someone because I have HSVI version of HSV2. I know how it has changed my life and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I feel bad I didn't know I had it when I had children. They all have something...one son has had shingles, daughter has nonstop yeast infections and other son has frequent strep throat.

I'm trying to figure out how you have a dating/sex life again between your own fears and scaring potential love interests away when you tell them what you have...we have to hang on to what hope we can each day. Doing a lower dose daily I have very mild outbreaks and only about once a month as oppossed to severe ones that a higher dose for 5 days didn't get under control very well and had some side affects from high doses. They gave me 1000 mg. a day for 5 days then and it took longer to get it under control. Maybe a different anti-viral and doing a lower dose every day would help. My ex. used to take warm baths frequently when he had outbreaks and that helped. I do the same sometimes when I have blistering on my lower back. Rest helps too. Sometimes I take a day off work and just stay in bed all day and rest/sleep and it seems to help. Hang in there!

I am a new member and need the support. Dr Hui! I don't care if it took my life savings Im willing to give it a try. I will be informing all after my research and my "trip" If it's gods will.

Warning about DMSO - "Never an outbreak"

Before going to canada try www.neveranoutbreak.com. I've had H since I was 16 and I'm 32 now. This really works.Actually it's the best, I promise.

I will re-post this warning due to negative member experiences with this treatment and the potential danger:

DMSO based creams and treatments (such as this one) are potentially dangerous and some of our members have reported unpleasant adverse reactions, such as skin burns, worse outbreaks and an unusal garlic-like body odor.

We do not recommend trying this treatment but if you are considering it, please research it thoroughly before use.

      Hello "FeelingLost".... your fears and concerns are understandable but, nothing you've described regarding the sexual encounter would cause you to contract herpes.... further, your symptoms are not herpes related.  Best of all, your doctor is correct, your results don't show any herpes here.  You can relax.... definitely have your GP take a look at things and see what might be causing the symptoms but, again, none of them are typical herpes related.  I wish you the best in terms of talking to your wife about this encounter.... hopefully she will understand and you both can work through this amicably.  We all make mistakes.... be careful not to beat yourself up too hard over this.... you can become so racked with guilt that you start imagining physical symptoms.  Best of luck.... and take care..... come back to the site if you have questions.

      Hi (I’m really scared and feel really disappointed in myself and worried about my future), I had oral sex with a condom almost 3 weeks ago and a massage parlor. I also received a hand job at the same time prior to putting a condom on, also may have rubbed my penis on her back a little. Did not touch her genitals I don’t recall any sores on her back. After the event she handed me a pice of TP and after I took off the condom I wiped my penis head to clear away the excess ejaculation…this is where I suspect I got infected, she had just gone pee and wiped and maybe touched a sore or something and then I got it on my penis from the tp? Idk. I’m just flailing.   After this I’ve had discomfort on the skin below the head of my penis and 4 bumps for 2 weeks now, the bumps don’t seem to have changed in size. I also had frequent urination for about a week and have had dull pain in my groin on and off. I also have some pins and needles on the sides of my abdomen/trunk that get worse when I go out in the heat or get dehydrated. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping, likely due to guilt and shame and worry about the future.   so I got one test done at 10 days from the event (idk know if this can tell me anything… the doctor assured me it was 100% correct and I don’t have herpes. I was not physically examined). I got a full panel std. neg for everything. HSV-1 results: IgG 0.3 / HSV-2 IgG 0.9 hsv-1 IgM = 2.2 hsv-2 IgM = 3.0 (Reference V. Negative: Less than 9.0 Borderline: 9.0 to 11.0 Positive: Greater than 11.0) I have an appointment with my GP on Thursday, hoping he can help. Will likely go to a std testing service tomorrow to see if I can get in an antiviral proactively. Plan to get tested again this week.

      May 13 ( day I will never forget).. a guy I was dating and I drank way to much and decided to have anal sex. We did use protection however, not enough lube, wasn’t done correctly and it was painful. So bad that I yelled out and fell off the bed. Anyway, oral was also performed on me anal and vaginal. Flash forward to 3-4 days after that. I was in the most intense pain I had ever felt. I went to a gyn she tool one look and said it looks like herpes. She swabbed me . 2 days after that, yes it’s HSV1 . I was still in pain, irritated anal area and vaginal area and It was unbearable.  today, I still have irritation and itchy and when I pass a bowel i’m in pain and the itch is crazy.     When I first was diagnoses the gyn gave me valtrex which I did not take bc I was in so much pain I could not move for 2 days.  Groin lymphs were swollen I had fever , tired etc.  I am wondering if I had taken the valtrex would it have kinda liked stopped the virus in it’s tracks enough to reproduce? Do people see a correlation between no more outbreaks and immediate initial valtrex  use ? I am 43, I never thought this wound happen as I am not a promiscuous person, I hardly date and I always use protection when I do have intercouse , have yearly std tests. I’m just so sad that i’m at this point right now . I’m trying not to get depressed but this is making my body feel miserable. I’m an avid runner and biker and mom of two teens. I feel like my life as I knew is over. I want to feel better already.
