So at work last night I cut my finger, got home a few hours later and popped what I thought was a zit.... realized as soon as I'd done it, there was a blister on my bottom lip... I quickly washed my hands, applied Abreva and washed them again, I got up this morning, found a bunch of blisters on my lip and right below my lip, I quickly opened my new thing of abreva, slicing my finger on the packed, same finger btw as the previous cut, now my question is, I applied Abreva with my bar fingers on the opposite hand, but I washed my hands together, as in rubbing them with soap lathering them up.... how possible is it that I might have allowed a part of the virus into that cut??????

Hey honey, you used soap and water and the antivirals meds on the sores along with soap and water on both hands, I'd say your fine. My question is your hands were not washed before you popped that zit, you probably added bacteria into the area you popped. I'd say you gave urself a bacterial infection from dirts under fingernails and non washed hands. Herpes doesn't live in water or soap or airborne. My guess is its just infected pimples now.

If you've had cold sores for a while now, the chance of spreading it to a different part of your body - like fingers - is just about zero.
