Does HSV2 always show up on medical records.

When I go to the dermatologist. Will she know?

Not unless you tell them if you don't give this new doctor permission to get the old records. If for some ODD reason they actually do proper testing for herpes, then yes it will show up. I have had new doctors who didn't know until they tested or got my permissions to get my old records, I have 22 actual doctors of all types some specialist and all different specialties. Why would you not want this doctor to know your full health status? Just asking ;)

Oh and just by visual inspection, I do not believe she will know if your visit is not for a herpes related issue, she doesn't need to know. :)

I haven't had a reason to see my dermatologist since 2009 so when I made an appointment they said I needed to fill out new patient forums again. The appointment is herpes unrelated. I have already been diagnosed with HSV2 swab test though so I assume now it will show up?

Ohhh I thought any doctor had access to all my medical history. I have to fill out a Patient Registration Form and Dermatology Medical History Form.

I thought the medical history form gave them access to all of my history.

Have you received any clarification on these signs and symptoms? I have been experiencing the same thing with the nerve pain in the same approximate locations and was wondering if you had found anything out about it being related to HSV-2?

Hi all  thanks for getting back to me. I had a swab and it came back negative . But I’m still not convinced. I’m gonna see a specialist I think . I’ve taken photos and to me there look like scabs healing.    I am now freaking out more because I have started a new relationship and the other day she broke out in 3 cold sores. She said this is the first time this has happened. I feel ashamed I may have given this to her . I have spoken to her and told her my fears and this may have now ruined my relationship.  I don’t know if it’s ok to share pictures on here but if it’s ok I would like to do this and get peoples thoughts

Hey @K1009 I can report that this is entirely consistent with a recent infection. Your body can take a few months to generate and stabilise the immune responses. The outbreaks can be a bit unrelenting during this period. Your body will get in top of it. Is this a genital outbreak from oral sex?
