Autoimmune component?

Recommended Posts

Kurdt01

For those that suffer with chronic symptoms....have you ever suspected an autoimmune component to this? My mom was recently diagnosed with Lupus which is an autoimmune disease and part of treating it is too actually slow the immune system down because revving it up only makes things worse. I have much the same experience with HSV2.It seems like the more I treat it the worse it gets...especially with potent immune modulators like Olive Leaf Extract...which basically puts me in constant OB mode. Just something to think about....

Do you take antivirals?

There is certainly some evidence to support this concept.

A major aspect of the body's immune response to HSV is inflammation. There has been some research lately on the effect of pairing cox-2 inhibiting anti-inflammatories (of which the NSAIDS like Advil and Aleve include) with drugs like Famciclovir to improve their efficacy. The study I can specifically recall involved pairing Famvir with Celebrex to reduce the symptoms of Fibromyalgia when a Herpesviridae is considered a possible cause (http://www.azfibro.com/2014/12/famvir-celebrex-phase-ii-clinical-trials/)

I know many people add Advil to their antivirals around outbreaks (myself included) and, at least for me, it helps a great deal. Whether this is simply pain relief or something more fundamental is tough to say but your experience with Olive Leaf extract is interesting.

Explain your outbreak symptoms?

Anti viral's don't help me unfortunately. My symptoms are constant burning in legs and urethra? as well as regular OB's every 2-6 weeks.

Thank you Slkxx. I want to talk to someone I trust but I am so afraid if I tell my best friend she will tell her husband, which is understandable. I completely trust her to not judge me but if her husband finds out his best friend is an ex of mine and I just don't want this to get around our group of friends. I have been lucky in the fact that the guy who gave it to me has been there for me but it isn't the same. Confiding in him is just making his own struggle more difficult as he feels terrible for what happened but he did not have any bad intentions. As it turns out finding out led to answering a lot of questions he has had about other health issues he had. So in a weird way this happening may actually help him in the long run with giving him an avenue for treatment. I don't want to pile onto his issues even though he has caused mine because at the end of the day he is a good guy who had no idea what was happening. I'm so glad you were able to talk to your friend and I truly hope the suicidal thoughts become a thing of your past. I am here if you need another ear.

Various reasons are possible, including: genetics, immune system, triggers (e.g. stress), lack of nutrition/exercise, bad luck, etc. No one person has the exact same experience.  Have you tried antivirals?
