Lysine question, a bit confused about some things

Recommended Posts

I have a question someone can help me with.. I have taken a lysine supplement in the morning for years and it has decreased my outbreaks a bit. But I have been researching and now I have confused myself with info regarding arginine lysine. So basically some clarification on this would be very helpful as it has been causing unnecessary stress!

Basically, I have read that chocolate, nuts, even whole grain are a no go? I am worried to even eat a little bit of this stuff now even though I don't remember getting an outbreak before due to eating them.. but anyways, so we can NOT eat this at all?

Or since I take a supplement can I eat some of these things and really how much is too much?

Is it best to take lysine in the morning? that's the way I have done it, I'll take it with my multivitamin and vitamin c.. but maybe there is a more effective way?

I truly love whole wheat bread and the thought of completely giving that up makes me sad so what is your opinion on all of this?

I just want to know how much to truly follow the lysine diet I want to be able to enjoy things and even a little chocolate here and there without worrying about the lysine/arginine ratio so much..but I can't find answers really anywhere that will help me.. so help here from you guys who have experienced this would be so helpful! Thank you!!
