Night sweats

Hi,

I've been diagnosed with HSV2 and am having my initial outbreak and have been dealing with weight loss and drenching night sweats. I'm worried because these symptoms are often tied to HIV not herpes. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms?

I'm pretty sure when I first got infected with HSV1 it was May 2013. I also experienced a single episode of night sweats and had about a month where i was just really sluggish, feeling sick, very mild weight loss. I worried (like crazy) about being infected with HIV as well. Don't trip man, it's really uncommon to run into HIV if you're not asking for it. If you were sleeping with the dirtiest of the dirtiest prostitutes than maybe you've got HIV, otherwise man it's most likely just the virus and your body's immune system finding a halfway point. If it's any comfort to you I am still HIV negative 2 years later.

I experienced those symptoms after testing negative for all however, after 3rd test my igg reading was .50 which confused me I understood that to be negative. However, after 2 months it went always I was also take acyclovir.

I also took HIV test with western blot, home test, health department testing, specialist test up to like 7 months negative. So it's good to get tested.

I had night sweats for several weeks (I believe 2 consecutively) when I first had genital symptoms of herpes. It's actually what made me also convinced I had herpes to begin with because I had genital bumps/lesions and assumed this was my body trying to fight the virus.

However, I can't for sure say my night sweats were herpes related since I've taken 15+ IGG blood tests spread out over a year and a half from exposure, a Western Blot, and 4 separate HIV tests, all of which have been negative and always negative. But my situation to me is unique as I truly believe I have HSV1, but fall in a category that will never show a + on blood tests.

So take what you will from my response; but my personal opinion having gone through the night sweats and being very concerned about it, it's a HSV issue 100%. It's your body trying to fight the virus in my opinion.

I was diagnosed with hsv2 about two weeks ago. After about 6 days on famciclovir my pain while urinating ceased (although the tip of my penis remains a little red now still) but then began the prodrome/neuralgia symptoms.

Ive had two nights of brutal night sweats and off and on varied levels of skin sensitivity. Today my actual penis is very sensitive... I had intense flu symptoms- sore throat was real bad- but they've gone and I think a salt water and betadine gargle really helped with that, but it could just as well have been the famciclovir.

I had some of symptons that have to do with HIV...but it wasn't HIV after getting tested two times for it ...I came out clean at 3-6 months ...but was positive for Herpes ...the number one thing people do or mistake ...is that your head fucks you often you get some rap up in stress and worried that you stop eating and liven life ...loose weigth and then the lower back pain and you see any rash as HIV...but its not ...i had bad Pain during bathroom every time i pee and went to the number 2 after the month ...it was a bad first few months ...but it all goes away ...just remember stress and eating habings play big role on out breaks and get tested for everyting if you feel its HIV..

Well, your body is working it out.  You get this virus entrenching itself within your nerves and it's trying to fight it.

I had the same thing happen to me.  The feverish feelings lasted on/off for 5 months.  I'm 7 months in and haven't experienced it.

In time your immune system will get better.  But you need to help yourself to overcome it.  

There are some products out there but St. John's Wort is the greatest miracle herb you can ever come across.  Do a search on this forum and you'll find some info.

This is not likely to be related to herpes. Be very careful with SJW you must consult with a doctor before using it as Sanguine omitted to say on this occasion. 

Get to the bottom of the night sweats. Rememberthat 90% of the time stress is involved and this won't help your herpes.
