Anyone else experienced this?

During my first 2 years of Herpes I never experienced any nerve pain. Now i have less breakouts but more nerve pain.... it feels like you cant win with this virus sometimes.

Will it ever go away or do i need to seek medical help?

It seems to be stress induced also, any stressful situation and i feel a "pulse" throughout my entire groin and leg area followed by a cold ache sensation.

I noticed that I have the nerve pain a lot. mine is usually on my buttocks and down the back of my leg. it almost feels like a sunburn... Not as much painful as just annoying. I have HSV2 for about 4 years. I was hoping too that the symptoms would get better

Yea, I know what you mean :(

I used to have those symptoms, nerve pain in those areas. And that weird sunburn sensation as well.

Then it stopped. And now I just get really bad headaches, and along with the headaches comes severe anxiety and irritableness. I've never had anxiety before, not like this. Once that passes, I feel like a different person.

You really can't win with this disease :(

Do you still get these symptoms? I keep having pain in my ass (sphincter/rectum) and in my penis. Like a small jolt of electricity.

I've had this for roughly 3 months now, and to be honest, I'd rather have an outbreak than the nerve pain, its excruciating.

I've had that pain in the same region on and off for a couple of months once. But then that mostly stopped. And yea, I would have the pain when I was not breaking out, and when I broke out the pain would go away.

I agree, breaking out is way better than the pain. There was a once year period where I had a lot of pain, but that seems to be mostly over. I still get some weird itches and tingles, but nothing too severe. But when it was severe, you really just go crazy. I remember I would sometimes be taking the train and I would be in pain, and it would just be horrible. Anytime in public really, the groin pain just destroys you.

How fit are you? Do you eat healthy, exercise? Are you at a healthy weight? The best way to stop the nerve pain is to try and be healthy. Really all about trying to keep a strong immune system.

I feel your pain my body literally has been burning for 2.5 month it is very frustrating. I am on gelipolin I think I smelled it wrong but it is a nerve med for phn. I tested negative at 12 weeks with igg but know I have it with all the symptoms I have been having. I to would take a breakout over this burning pain. God bless

Thankfully, my phase of nerve pains has been over for quite a while. I might get some from time to time, but its been really good. No headaches either lately.

I find the most important thing, not just plenty of sleep, but regular sleep. Working from home can allow me to keep odd hours and I find this is when the symptoms start to act up.

My husband has been having this problem for years, but I've never experienced it. Does anyone know does it get worse with age? Does it affect men more than women? He takes Valtrex when it happens and that seems to help, but the first few days until it kicks in are really hard on him. Stress and overexercise seem to have an effect. Anyone else?

Gotta take things that nourish nerves.  There are nerve supplements out there.  Take a good multivitamin.

L-Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic acid, CoEnzQ10, B vit complex (not just B12)

This has helped me out tremendously.

Hi @Anxious 1234 Did you get diagnosis for this?

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
