Herpes symptoms???

Last Thursday, my bf and I were talking dirty while he was at work, so I decided to spice things up at home. I shaved bare and bought some ky warming lube.

Satday I had an ingrown hair and felt like I had a UTI. He had an allergic reaction to the lube, that appeared the next morning, and had weird, super painful sores that weren't there earlier.

Monday I went to the doctor and tested positive for a bladder infection and there was some blood in my urine. I got the medicine which I started taking immediately. This is the worst UTI I've ever had. Peeing is so painful.

Also on Monday, when I wiped, I noticed it stung. So I looked around and saw the ingrown hair and two red bumps to the right of my labia. I didn't think much of it then.

Yesterday, the bumps got worse. A third bump procured up right under my vaginal opening. I tried to pop them but nothing happened. I tried to poke them with a needle, but nothing happened. As I dug out the ingrown hair, I put hydrogen peroxide on all the bumps. They actually felt less painful and looked smaller after that.

Now this morning, one that was on the side is even more painful, and there is a red bump on my labia too.

Is this herpes? Is it an allergic reaction too? Agrivated by my continuously touching it? Do herpes cause bladder infections?

It shouldn't cause a bladder infection. Not sure if you pee after sex, but that is supposed to help. As for the bumps I don't think we can comment on much. Usually with herpes though you'll get a cluster of bumps, side by side, touching etc. FYI, don't pop them, I can understand if you suspect an ingrown hair.

I went to the doctor again today. She said they looked too small to be herpes and that they were already healing, but she swabbed them anyways. How should I mentally prepare myself?? Like what else could they be?

Im sorry to hear your diagnosis. As i am learnng everyone's herpes story is different. I was recently dx and am having an ongoing outbreak, so i understand how you might be feeling. Stunned disbelief? Did the dr prescribe antivirals? Valtrex, Acyclovir? They will help. He should also be seen of course.

Looking at other threads around this forum will help. There are several that will put this in a better perspective, ( i cant really say good because its not, lets face it) to reduce the stigma associated with a simple skin condition. I know they helped me cope more than the doctors that's for sure.

I'm just angry. And annoyed.

I already have scoliosis and arthritis and trichotillomania, and now I have to add herpes to the list of things wrong with me.

I'm angry there isn't a cure. Its 2015. It seems like there should be one.

My Dr. Prescribed Valtrex, but I don't really want to get it. I started another post asking about other treatments besides medication.

Pretty positive he does....

He had some sores 1 1/2 ago, went and got a blood test and it was inconclusive (because blood tests don't really work that well for herpes)

Last week he had sores again that we both thought were an allergic reaction to some new lube. Then I had an ob, and got them swabbed and they tested positive for hsv2.

His sores are still present so I told him to go get them swabbed.

He wasnt surprised when I told him. Half of me thinks he already knew he had it.... He said we shouldn't play the blame game because its not going to help anything. I know thats true, but I'm really really angry

Ya he seemed to chill about it. My ex too wanted to have unprotected sex with me eve right after my first OB. Like no questions no precautions, obviously he had it and didn't tell me and passed it to me. Then told me he loved me and broke up with me 2 days later

Darn sorry to hear that. Did you get any flu like symptoms? Body aches, anything? My first outbreak was so bad for about a month, I literally considered committing suicide, fortunately it got better and then you think god that was a pretty drastic thought! I started on suppressive with Valtrex and it really helped! If you have insurance I recommend it. In fact looking back, I recommend antivirals for the first year despite insurance. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe your body is still producing antibodies to fight herpes despite being on antivirals.

Mine was bad yes. I just had sores though no other symptoms and swollen lymph nodes. I was diagnosed via site so my doctor believes it could be something else. I went to emerg so he never saw me. I was in antiviral a for a few months because I met someone new. I didn't transmit it. I also had sex with a guy before I knew I was getting an out break when I was most contagious and I ddint transit it. Gives me hope as I am recently single again as of yesterday and scared to sleep with someone new. I been taking olive leak extract instead of antivirals. It's been a year and a couple months. I had a minor on couple months ago. Was just one sore if it was even herpes I don't know. I had no warning or anything. Just a bump that scanned looked like. I didn't get it swabbed and I should have. Just embarrassed because I know ppl that work at the hospital and I don't want them to see my test results. I am afraid to date again. I am afraid of passing it. Gives he huge anxiety!

Well, I think everyone with herpes needs to have the idea that they are going to transmit it in mind. However disclosing it is the most important thing, let your partner decide if they want to take the risk. Nevertheless, like you, I also have had possibly minor outbreaks, I can't really tell. I get some red bumps scattered throughout down there and I can't tell if its an outbreak or not, they are small and last a day or 2. I'm on antivirals; suppressive, and I don't know what symptoms are like when you're on them. Personally I haven't noticed any pain or anything but I shy on the side of caution and don't have sex during those times.

I don't think you should have a problem dating, just make sure you disclose things before having sex.

Where I come from we don't disclose. I know people who haven't disclosed l. I didn't disclose to my boyfriend. People just don't understand. I just take the necessary precautions. I know sounds bad but here no one discloses and wouldn't be accepted.

"Where I come from we don't disclose" may I ask where you are from?

Hi @Anxious 1234 Did you get diagnosis for this?
    • Damian
Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Well thank you I appreciate it

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
