Do sores always hurt?

I have this tiny red spot on my inner vaginal lip it doesn't hurt or anything even when I put rubbing alcohol on it. Its not raised or anything does this sound like a herpes sore?

Hi there, sorry I missed you in chat.

I would think any type of sore would hurt if you applied rubbing alcohol to it. Herpes sores do hurt mostly, but not always.

The only way you will know for certain is to go to a doctor and get the sore swabbed.

Well I have had like 6 blood tests done my 1st was igm showing possitive for hsv 1 & hsv 2 and negitive igg for hsv 2 (I have had hsv 1 on my nose since I was 10) my last one was 8mths past possible exposure and it was still negitive I just can't seem to get past this I was told I had it based on the IGM and then that I didn't have it so I have been pretty messed up for the last 1.5 years.

Do not trust IgM tests, they are unreliable.

You could always have hsv1 genital as well as oral. Typically hsv1 genital doesn't cause as many problems as hsv2 genital so that may explain why your sores don't hurt. The only way you will know for sure if you have hsv1 genital is by a swab test. Blood tests can only tell you what you have, not where you have it.

If you have current genital sores, go get them swabbed and know for sure.

I have had hsv 1 since I was a small child after everything I have read seems its like a 1 in a million chance of me getting it in another place is that not correct?

That is correct, having it genital after having it oral for a long time is rare, but it is possible to do. Again the only way you will know for sure is if you get a swab test.

If you tested negative for hsv2 at 8 months after possible exposure its almost certain that you don't have that strain of the virus.

Hi. I have a combination of peroxide and a small amount of alcohol in a spray bottle I used during OB. It helps to use peroxide with mouth wash also.

Some burning. Haven't had a major ob and don't want to know what's that like with out my meds.

I've only found out two months ago. This is all new. Doing a lot of reading. Look for vitamin supplements.

I understand me either I am still taking meds everyday I tricked a dr into giving them to me saying that I had hsv 1 genital when really I have it on my nose. Since my tests are all negative no dr would give me anymore meds. I have been diagnosed with vulvodynia and tight pelvic floor that explains my other issues however I have not been able to move on since the IGM test came back positive and dr told me I had it. I know I sound like a crazy person I'm just lost. I have had 6 blood tests done ranging from 4 weeks to 32 weeks and all are negative but I now am in constant fear. =(

Don't stress it makes it worse. I had to stress over a two weeks over how i was going to tell my husband of 17 years that I had 1,2. He has 1. Cold sores.

What did he say? How did you end up with 2? Was it just a really old infection? I don't feel like I have it but I don't feel like I don't its hard to explain. I mean 6 neg blood test should tell me I am good but I can't move on.

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy.       Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
