HSV1 Testing & Questions

I hate to create a duplicate thread but I got the specifics from my test and wanted opinions if possible.

To make a long story short, I had issues with frequent urination so my doc did some blood work. She said I tested positive for HSV 1 & 2. About a month later, I developed several bumps on my penis, all around the rim some tiny fluid like small ones on the head. I took acyclovir 3 x daily for 5 days and nothing changed. So I took another prescription for the same amount of time and nothing changed. I went to a new doctor to get another prescription. He said he didn't believe they were herpes and ordered another test. My results were negative for HSV2. Nearly two months later, I still have the bumps, nothing has changed. He won't prescribe anti virals because he says I don't have it. He performed a igg test.

First doctor said they performed a igm and igg test to determine my positive result. She said HSV1 was a 61.0 and HSV2 was a 0.91. She said a 0 - 0.9 was negative and mine was a .91 so that's why she told me positive for hsv2. She says she wants to do a swab on the lesions but they aren't new and I thought I read they need to be.

How common is hsv1 in the genital area?

How concerned should I be with having HSV2? I understand both can produce outbreaks in the genital area but one is likely to produce more outbreaks.

If I just contracted hsv1, could that be a reason I showed positive at a low rate and then negative a couple months after or could have the 10 days of anti virals I took a month prior altered the test results for hsv2.

Sorry...I just don't seem to be getting any clear answers from either doctor and appear to be getting conflicted answers from the same type of blood test. Not sure what to do....

Have you researched pearly penile papules? I would suggest testing again. Also get the swab done it should give peace of mind regarding the bumps around the corona of glans.

A hsv-1 61.0 is very unlikely that it is a new infection... I had my first cold sore at 16 and my recents hsv-1 result was 51.0... Now your hsv-2 can be a false positive. There can be a cross-reactivity since your hsv-1 is so high.. Terri Warren thought that my positive hsv 2 could be cross-reactivity but mine was at 4.2... Anything under 3.5 can be a false positive... I did the western blot but w my luck, cross reactivity wasn't the case... So you can wait, 6 month and retest, if it's still that low, I would think your negative...if u still feel insure after a test at 6 months... U can get the western blot, it's $250

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.
