Constant "prodrome" on inside and outside of my nose!

I've had nasal herpes for about 20 years. Within the past few years I started getting sores on the outside of my nose. It's painful, embarrassing, and has left my nose scarred and red. In the past two years the symptoms have become atypical. Instead of feeling a tingle and redness followed by a sore that goes away in a couple weeks, I've had almost 2 years of constant prodrome symptoms or "pre sore" symptoms, but an actual full blown sore rarely develops. However, in the exact areas that I've previously had a sore, I have redness, inflammation, and tingling. I've seen a couple dermatologists about it. They seem to just blow me off and say "it's not typical herpes symptoms." I KNOW THAT! I need a doctor that will really listen to me and will think outside the box. Yesterday a doctor prescribed Oracea for rosacea. I do have rosacea, but I have doubts about how well the medicine will work. I fear that my rosacea is connected to the herpes virus, and I feel like I have herpes all over my face! I take a maintenance dose of valtrex... 500 mg daily, I use H-balm by Forces of Nature on the areas, I take a l-lysine supplement, and lauricidin (a concentrated version of coconut oil). I feel hopeless and extremely frustrated. I've been researching if Botox would help... There's currently a study being done on this. I've researched if the shingles vaccine will help. I've tried just about everything, but am still desperately seeking to get this under control. As a side note, I also have genital HSV1 and vulvodynia caused by the virus. That is currently under control, but I can't seem to suppress the activity on my nose. Please help!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues. You seem to be doing everything you can by seeking professional medical help.

Where do you live? There are a lot of support groups out there and perhaps they could refer you to a herpes knowledgeable doctor who can properly diagnose and treat you. Here is a link to a list of support groups:

There are also many secret herpster groups on Facebook as well. I can connect you with the biggest group, Swirls which has over 4,800 members.

Good luck!

For the nose herpes try rubbing some oil of oregano P73 on your nose. It should either kill of most of the virus or push it deeper into your nasal cavity so it will be less noticeable.

I don't know If you are still active on this site but I was searching constant HSV1 outbreaks on my nose and your story popped up. My X partner has had typical HSV1 outbreaks on her nose maybe 5 times a year for her whole life, After being together for three years I developed a rash of small soars on the underside of my nose. They do not fit the typical HSV1 symptoms but have been consistently popping up for 1 1/2 years and I am afraid I have passed it on to a few friends as my X insisted it wasn't HSV1 as it didn't have the right symptoms and I would share drinks and the like. We split up a few months ago and so now I am worried about dating someone new as I always seem to have one or two of these little soars just as you explained them. I recently hooked up with a girl and she just texted me she broke out with a cold soar something she hasn't had in years. Anyways that's my story and was wondering if you have found anything that works or if your symptoms have subsided? I have been doing all the natural treatments for a couple months now with no relief. Have not tried any of the prescription anti virals... thats next but you are the only person I have found with a similar issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
