Thank you very much. Well I was diagnosed with whitlow as of yesterday. No testing was done. Just visual for now. I have it on my finger which is causing to lose circulation I was wondering if anybody else has this same problem.

Visual diagnosis is the least accurate. Could they not swab it and test that way? The virus shouldn't affect your circulation it should only affect your nerves and skin.

I hope it goes away soon!

i have genital hsv-1 and am freaking out that i spread it to my thumb (got weird blister that scabbed over and disappeared (no, i didn't get it swabbed). does anyone know how often hsv infections of the finger recur? there doesn't seem to be a lot of great info on this one out there. thanks in advance.

I transferred Oral HSV1 to my pinky finger via a small cut on my finger while flossing. Sucks but I've only had it pop up 3 times in almost 3 years. Put oil of oregano p73 on it and wrap it in one of those finger condom things. Should clear up in a few hours...

I would not think anyone in this thread has whitlow. It just doesn't present itself as indicated.

Herpes whitlow almost always involves the ends of fingers and is very painful; certainly doesn't disappear within hours. For someone so infected, most experience only one outbreak of whitlow.

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów.
