Me again!

Hey everyone,

I'm now 36 weeks and just started my antiviral meds. I had a couple of outbreaks during my pregnancy, not severe, and didn't take an antiviral. Now I'm afraid that the baby could have been infected in utero. I've read of other women staying on antiviral a to help prevent infection of baby in the womb. Did anyone have outbreaks , not take meds, and have a healthy baby? As the pregnancy draws to a close, I'm freaking out a bit. Thanks in advance!

You are doing everything you can. Please trust that your doctors know what they are doing. From what I know the most danger comes during delivery and that right now your baby is protected. So take your antivirals and trust your doctors and I am sure you will have a healthy baby.

Good luck!

JB

Thanks for responding! Yes, you're right, I should trust them. I'm just so scared because I know there is the very rare possibility of the baby getting it in utero.

Yes, soontobe. I have two beautiful, healthy children. I never took antivirals and had outbreaks during each delivery. I had a c-section each time just to be safe. JB is right though. Trust what your doctor says and don't stress. It's not good for baby.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I trust my doctors, and they basically don't seem too phased about the entire thing. They also said they only put women on antivirals if they're having constant outbreaks. I've only had one and one instance with symptoms but no sores. I had to ask for the meds. I'm still so scared, but I'm scared about everything already! What if I ate the wrong thing, touched something I shouldn't have... On and on! Does anyone else have experience they'd like to share?

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
