Non-sexual genital herpes transmission?

Hi everyone, I need some advice, because I'm not sure if I spread my HSV 1 to my genitals.

I contracted HSV1 orally just about 2 years ago. My medical story is that it spread across my face, into my nose, and into my eyes, despite being on suppressive therapy. I have a genetic immunodeficiency called NK cell deficiency, so it means my herpes reactivates every day. I have been a nervous wreck trying to prevent it from spreading to other parts of my body for a year.

About a month ago, I felt a chafing sensation on my perineal area. I noticed a zit/sore looking area come up, just one, where the chafing feeling was. However, around the same time, I experienced sharp nerve pain in my right leg, like getting electrocuted. This nerve pain lasted for about a week. The zit-sore area is still present, but has not filled with pus, ruptured, or spread. I had some heavier vaginal discharge than normal around the same time, but I don't know if this was from neurotic washing of the area.

Today, almost a month later, my leg and right side of my perineum is starting to feel sore again, and there may or may not be a second zit/sore? coming up near the first one, which is still there after 4 weeks.

I have not had sex in 2 years, since before contracting HSV 1. I caught HSV 1 from kissing (no sexual contact.) I always wear pants, and I never directly touch my genital area at all. I also do not take a shower anymore with my face under the water, and I use a separate washcloth for my genital area.

My question is, could this be genital herpes, and how could I have contracted it, if so, without direct sexual/fluid contact? (I have actually contracted it on my arm from spit that absorbed through a thin shirt, so I am wondering if I sat in something contaminated, but this seems far-fetched.)

Please help, as I'm freaking out!

Hello ComplicatedChart,

If you are able to, get the area swabbed when you have sores.

Based on your story, I highly doubt it would be genital herpes - remember, there are lots of things that could mimic herpes symptoms. However, your symptoms don't really sound like herpes to begin with.

This is very important, and everyone should take note - this website should not be used to determine a diagnosis. Only a medical professional should do that.

Professional testing would bring you assurance.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
